I'm okay with changing "politician" to something else, but I don't think "political operative" is the best choice; I didn't find any other articles with that disambiguation. What about "political employee" or "political administrator"? Other ideas? —ADavidB15:18, 5 May 2017 (UTC)[reply]

Oppose. Here are some definitions of "politician" that come up: "a person who is professionally involved in politics, especially as a holder of or a candidate for an elected office"; "1) a person experienced in the art or science of government; especially : one actively engaged in conducting the business of a government, 2) a person engaged in party politics as a profession". Our own Wiktionary has "1) One engaged in politics, especially an elected or appointed government official. 2) Specifically, one who regards elected political office as a career. 3) A politically active or interested person."
It's borderline, but "professionally involved in politics" seems the primary meaning. Sure, it then says "especially as a holder of or a candidate for an elected office", but "especially" not "exclusively". My guess is that the current title will likely be best understood by and best serve the reader; I can't prove that. Anyway "political operative" is a subset of "politician", and makes for a longer title, overly precise. "Katie Walsh (politics)" isn't longer but you lose precision.
