Contested deletion

[edit]

This article should not be speedily deleted for lack of asserted importance because its subject is, on the contrary, quite notable, certainly up to a level that meets Wikipedia criteria for notable biographies of living persons. In a more extended discussion format, one could present numerous, trivially obvious arguments to that effect, but for a speedy deletion proposal, one can simply point out this: An article whose subject's activities are covered extensively in his home country (see relevant links) and are given extended space in major western media, such as Le Monde or The New York Times (ditto), most probably deserves a proper hearing before it is "speedily deleted" from the encyclopaedia. --The Gnome (talk) 07:15, 15 October 2014 (UTC)[reply]
