Article name

[edit]

I have moved this article back to KBWB from KBWB-TV. Consensus on both WP:NC#Broadcasting and Wikipedia_talk:WikiProject_Television_Stations#Article_names is that the article name should reflect the actual call letters of the TV station. As can be seen here: [1] the call letters for this station are in fact KBWB. Any concerns regarding this topic would be best addressed here: Wikipedia_talk:WikiProject_Television_Stations. —A 09:09, 25 January 2006 (UTC)[reply]

And now, per this, I've moved the page from KBWB to KOFY-TV. (The "-TV" is in fact part of the official call letters.) Michael Patrick (talk) 21:57, 9 October 2008 (UTC)[reply]

The Pets

[edit]

In the 1980s until the mid-90s when it was occupied by the WB , there were some interesting station idents shown for the station between shows (during when the station was referred to as KOFY): a dog or a cat (whose name is shown at the bottom of the screen) is shown in closeup, then the camera zooms out to show that dog or cat sitting on a chair alongside a TV set to TV20. While a jingle played, the dog or cat would turn its head to look at the TV, after which the TV20 logo of the time flies off the screen in the room and turns the room into a cheesy CG space-type setting with the TV20 logo taking up the screen with the word "KOFY" on top and "San Francisco" on bottom. The jingle played as follows:

"Welcome to your place..."
(Quick drum solo)
"K-O-F-Y, TV-20!"
(whispers) "Stereo!"
(spoken) "KOFY, K-O-F-Y, stereo, TV-20, San Francisco."

But when the WB bought the station, gone were the pets of the TV jingle. But with the station about to go independent again, will the TV jingle pets return with it? I hope it should. MHarrington 17:12, 15 August 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Sorta actually, not exactly like old times, but still, take a look at this: http://www.yourtv20.com/features/contests/8549552.html ViperSnake151 20:59, 20 September 2007 (UTC)[reply]

TV-20 Dance Party

[edit]

I didn't see a mention of the TV-20 Dance Party. When I was in high school, 1985, several high schools were invited, of which mine was one. Later the format changed. Unfortunately, I don't have much more info than that.

Fair use rationale for Image:Ktzo2085.jpg

I notice the image page specifies that the image is being used under fair use but there is no explanation or rationale as to why its use in this Wikipedia article constitutes fair use. In addition to the boilerplate fair use template, you must also write out on the image description page a specific explanation or rationale for why using this image in each article is consistent with fair use.

Please go to the image description page and edit it to include a fair use rationale. Using one of the templates at Wikipedia:Fair use rationale guideline is an easy way to insure that your image is in compliance with Wikipedia policy, but remember that you must complete the template. Do not simply insert a blank template on an image page.

If there is other fair use media, consider checking that you have specified the fair use rationale on the other images used on this page. Question about James Gabbert

[edit]

The article states he has returned to the station in 2008 (and I just saw a promotional commercial for KOFY that seemingly featured him; he didn't speak, and he looked a lot older, but I'm pretty sure it was him). Does anyone know in what capacity? He was previously the owner/manager, so I wonder at what capacity he might be working there now. I suppose I could just check their website, however...OK, I couldn't find anything about Mr. Gabbert at the website. —Preceding unsigned comment added by KevinOKeeffe (talkcontribs) 03:22, 16 November 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Picture format?

[edit]

While KOFY-TV broadcasts in high definition, does the station broadcast in 1080i or 720p? There is no mention in the article of the format that KOFY-TV uses. CHAK 001 (Improvements? Please let me know!) 23:00, 20 July 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Secondary affiliate of the big three networks

[edit]

In the 1980s, KOFY-TV (then KTZO) aired ABC primetime programming whenever KGO-TV the main ABC affiliate aired sports games. The article mentions KTZO aired some CBS and NBC programs when KRON-TV and KPIX-TV aired sports games, so viewers can watch primetime shows not carried by the big three network stations. 2605:E000:FDCA:4200:613F:2DF8:D15B:5AA2 (talk) 04:20, 22 December 2015 (UTC)[reply]

This TV affiliation

[edit]

They began to carry This TV on 20.4 recently. But I cannot find any announcement from either side. Sillyvalley (talk) 08:31, 14 June 2016 (UTC)[reply]

KOFY is being discontinued the 16th

[edit]

It is becoming Grit TV. Creature Features is no longer an affiliate of KOFY it is instead Chabot College TV who airs it. Also, the Dance Party website is defunct. KOFY is becoming very quiet on the whole transition too. 2601:642:4400:9F00:70C0:D32E:D00E:F2A1 (talk) 22:56, 13 April 2022 (UTC)[reply]

KOFY isn't going away as a station, it'll just be running the Grit network. I don't know where you got this nonsense. Mvcg66b3r (talk) 23:00, 13 April 2022 (UTC)[reply]
