Page Creation
[edit]As a writer, actor, and co-founder of Polygon, Justin McElroy deserves a dedicated page. The page was previously a redirect to the podcast he created, My Brother My Brother and Me.
Some notes to address:
- I copied Griffin McElroy's page as a base, since several pieces of information are the same. If I made any errors in modifying the template, I would appreciate helping in fixing the page.
- Justin McElroy is often confused with a Canadian Journalist of the same name, as seen in this tweet: https://twitter.com/j_mcelroy/status/917885912020688896. The website http://www.justinmcelroy.com is dedicated to this person. It may or may not be appropriate to create two pages with a disambiguation page between them.
- There is a My Brother My Brother and Me Wikia, however I did not reference it for information since the page appeared to have been vandalized at the time of reading, and lacking in sources.
- I have thus far not been able to determine if Justin McElroy has attended a college or university, and, if so, which one. I also have found no source for a place of birth, although Travis McElroy has confirmed he was born in Huntington via his website.
I would love for others to contribute if they can help find sources of information on Justin. EliteMasterEric (talk) 23:09, 2 August 2018 (UTC)

Why would this be a redirect?
[edit]I don't see any justification for this being a redirect, since it contains several references and information which relate to other projects and would not be relevant to the podcast he does with his brothers.
- Pinging Onel5969 ~ Abelmoschus Esculentus (talk to me) 14:29, 3 August 2018 (UTC)
- There is simply no in-depth coverage from independent, reliable sources about him specifically. There is coverage about his brothers. All the references are either trivial mentions, listings, or non-reliable sources. Or are about one of his brothers, or the podcast. Onel5969 TT me 14:34, 3 August 2018 (UTC)
- I think this simply justifies finding more sources for information about Justin's independent experience, rather than reverting him to a redirect to just one of his many projects. The Herald Dispatch link found by ThatBrownStuff is good, since it concerns Justin and Sydnee exclusively. Which sources do you consider non-reliable, is it IMDB? I have confirmation of his animation voice roles directly on Twitter: [1][2]. EliteMasterEric (talk) 15:24, 3 August 2018 (UTC)
- Twitter, Facebook, YouTube, IMDB are all non-reliable sources. It's not just trivial mentions confirming that he did this or that, but in-depth sourcing. I suggest you read WP:GNG. Onel5969 TT me 18:41, 3 August 2018 (UTC)
- I will add that I interpret GNG and the issues with sourcing on versions of this page in the same manner as Onel5969. To further answer the question posed, redirecting the article is considered an alternative to deletion. Best, Barkeep49 (talk) 02:19, 4 August 2018 (UTC)
- Heads-up: per WP:SELFPUB, "Self-published and questionable sources may be used as sources of information about themselves." So if it's a few minor things that are backed up by a Twitter post, that's OK. Obviously, you don't want the whole page backed up by social media posts, but there is not a blanket ban of social media because it's all "non-reliable".--Gen. Quon (Talk) 01:54, 31 August 2018 (UTC)
