   The lead just repeats "he" in each sentence; needs to be paraphrased with "Gomez" as well; in the main article, it should read the place he was born in (Matanzas Province, Cuba); Havana should be wikilinked when first mentioned; "were African slaves[5] but managed to buy the freedom of their child..." I think "but" should be changed to either "who" or "that";
