Notes on expansion
[edit]The Grand and Glorious PDX history, etc., etc. Has a lot more detail about Lambert's early life--I only hit the highlights.

A (incompletely sourced) Timeline
[edit]- 1847 William Meek (Special:WhatLinksHere/William_Meek) arrives in Milwaukie
- 1847 Henderson Luelling arrives in Milwaukie
- 1848 (or 1851) Seth Lewelling arrives in Milwaukie
- 1850 Lambert arrives in Milwaukie
- 1851 Lambert works for Meek & Henderson
- 1852 Seth goes to work for Henderson
- 1854 Henderson & Meek Leave for CA
- ???? Henderson sells his interest to Seth
- 1856 H.W. (Henry) Eddy joins Meek & Luelling to form Meek, Luelling & Eddy
- 1857 or 1858 Henderson (?) sells to Meek & Eddy
- 1859 Lambert buys out Meek & Eddy (Lambert does not continue in the nursery business)
or
- 1859 Meek sells 1/2 to Henry Miller and Lambert
- 1859 Seth owns outright? (or runs the nursery side of the business that Lambert bows out of)
https://archive.org/details/pioneerdaysofore02clar/page/n4/mode/2up?q=Henderson
The Eddy, Luelling, and Meek families all intermarried: https://www.findagrave.com/memorial/31668287/mary-meek
Henderson's son Albert may have been involved in the nursery business as well. And brother John Luelling was involved in the business in California.
This says *Henderson* is the one who later changed his name to Luelling when he went to California. But Lewelling Blvd in Cherryland, California doesn't seem to bear this out.

Let's see if we can sort this out without synthesis or original research.
