Sparrow

[edit]

Before Steppenwolf, the band played some gigs with the billing "Sparrow", without the "The". Can someone help with a citation? There are Fillmore posters with this billing. Rainbow-five (talk) 05:10, 23 October 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Achromatopsia

[edit]

The article states that Kay suffers from Achromatopsia: "a defect of the cone cells in the eyes". But the Wiki article on Achromatopsia states that: "In patients with achromatopsia, the cone system and fibres carrying colour information remain intact." and that the problem is in the patients' brains. I'm not changing anything, since I am no expert. It's be good if someone who knows anything about the disease were to make the necessary corrections. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 109.65.195.124 (talk) 12:48, 2 March 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Current residence

[edit]

The entry stating that he lives in Franklin Tennessee is no longer accurate. Although he seems to have lived in Franklin and Nashville at some time, there's no record of Kay (or Krauledat) as a current property owner in property tax records for either Williamson or Davidson counties. The information was not supported by a citation, so I have deleted it. Twistlethrop (talk) 09:36, 2 May 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Just How is Kay a Canadian?

[edit]

He lived there in his teenage years and then emigrated to the United States. He never became a Canadian citizen, but he is still referred to as a "Canadian musician,' 'Canadian Emigrants to The United States,' ect, ect,.... These designations should be removed entirely based on the proper criteria for classification. (75.94.101.187 (talk) 03:25, 4 June 2014 (UTC))[reply]

the "dark glasses" thing

[edit]

Anyone who's seen Kay (or at least photos) in recent years would maybe kinda tend to notice he has no obvious eyewear whatever. Plug his name into your fave search engine. Anyone care to get the actual story of how his condition was treated? Weeb Dingle (talk) 23:21, 1 February 2017 (UTC)[reply]

I removed that, and am tempted to remove the rest. "Legally blind" is sourced to an interview, so we have no independent reliable source for it. Kendall-K1 (talk) 17:51, 4 September 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Citizenship

[edit]

I have changed Kay's description from "German-born Canadian" to "German-born American," as Kay's biographer John Einarson wrote the following (citation in article):

John Kay did not become a Canadian citizen. We embrace him as our own, he was a landed immigrant in Canada and got his start here, but he has been an American citizen since the early 60s.

I believe this is a sufficiently reliable source (WP:RS) for Kay's citizenship (MOS:CITIZEN). If anyone can find another source that deals with Kay's citizenship in detail, please let me know. Rift (talk) 22:03, 18 December 2023 (UTC)[reply]
