Composition of Silkimit?

[edit]

As currently written, it's unclear what the composition of Silkimit was/is. The sentence "The success of the nitrocellulose fiber developed by Hilaire de Chardonnet encouraged Fremery and Urban to investigate making artificial silk, which they named "Silkimit" and patented in 1897." could be interpreted as meaning that Silkimit was nitrocellulose. If not, the connection between nitrocellulose fibers and Silkimet should probably be clarified. -- 160.129.138.186 (talk) 19:18, 20 October 2015 (UTC)[reply]

I think this is clarified. The product used the cuprammonium process, which was cheaper and safer than nitrocellulose. Aymatth2 (talk) 22:27, 20 October 2015 (UTC)[reply]
