[edit]

There's more info on Soldner, in German, at wiki.de. Don't know if anyone's planning on migrating it over. ErkDemon 22:31, 5 April 2007 (UTC)[reply]

The German version is still much longer. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 81.152.184.175 (talk) 11:08, 31 January 2022 (UTC)[reply]

huh?

[edit]

What's this 4m/r vs. 2M/r stuff?

r=2M is familiar as the event horizon radius of a black hole, and it's also the event horizon radius of a dark star. It's simply the distance from an idealised mass at which the escape velocity equals lightpseed, and it's the same under GR and Newtonian mechanics. If there's some other useful calculation relevant to light-bending that uses these quantities, perhaps the editor could tell us what it is. The current version has rather erratic grammar, and its edits seem to have changed changed the meaning of some of the text so that in places it no longer seems to be factually correct. And why delete the reference to the Lenard/Einstein controversy? Lenard's accusation is typically assumed to be unworthy, but I think it's the main reason why Soldner is still remembered. I might have to do a revert (ponders). ErkDemon 02:00, 7 August 2007 (UTC)[reply]

typo?
