Removed information

[edit]

I removed that he was in a gay porno, obviously a hoax. The referenced link to to IMDB shows his only acting credit as playing a referee in Space Jam.

I removed the following from this article:

"*In the news under accusations of taunting San Antonio Spurs player Tim Duncan. Crawford said to Duncan, "Do you want to fight? Do you want to fight?' " Duncan said. "If he wants to fight, we can fight. I don't have any problem with him, but we can do it if he wants to. I have no reason why in the middle of a game he would yell at me, 'Do you want to fight?'" and proceeded to throw Duncan out of a game for no valid reason. This occurred on April 16, 2007."

This snippet lacks objectivity, and in many places is just incorrect. The alleged request by Crawford to fight Duncan has not been legitimately corroborated as of yet. Additionally, Duncan was thrown out of the game for repeatedly mocking Crawford and the officiating staff, stomping his feet and laughing at every call. The NBA rules state that such an action is grounds for a technical foul. Hardly "no valid reason". Kirobaito 22:51, 16 April 2007 (UTC)Kirobaito[reply]

"Unprecedented Ejection"

[edit]

I removed the word 'unprecedented' because the penalty for recieving 2 technical fouls is ALWAYS ejection. If someone thinks that the technical fouls were given for unprecedented reasons, that needs to be verified - seems like personal opinion to me at this time. Hometown

[edit]

NOTE: his home address should read "Newtown Square, Pennsylvania"...it is often misspelled as "Newton Square" —The preceding unsigned comment was added by Paulnigel (talkcontribs) 01:15, 18 April 18 2007 (UTC).

I will make this change in the article. Thanks for the heads up! RyguyMN 12:47, 18 April 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Suspension

[edit]

Can anyone verify that the NBA has officially said that the second technical should not have been assessed? All that I've seen (on both websites referenced) is that Crawford "failed to meet the standards of professionalism and game management we expect of NBA referees." If unverified, the claim should be taken down and replaced with something that can be substantiated. Dextrosity 20:07, 17 April 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Re: Suspension

[edit]

Well the NBA did fine Duncan "$25,000 for verbal abuse of an official" but Joey Crawford apparently asked Duncan if he wanted to fight. So Stern just suspended Crawford indefinitely, but as far I know the technical fouls against Duncan still exist. —The preceding unsigned comment was added by Bball2city (talkcontribs) 20:49, 17 April 2007 (UTC).[reply]

Well, of course they exist. However, the fine was likely for the comments Duncan made after the game, as all accounts indicate. zellin t / c 13:51, 18 April 2007 (UTC)[reply]
Technical fouls can be repealed, though I simply think that means (1) the fines are rescinded or refunded; and (2) they are not counted toward the total number of T's a player can receive before being suspended for a game. However, I don't think points scored as a result of T's can be rescinded and the scores adjusted accordingly. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 64.85.225.235 (talk) 19:52, 24 January 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Why is this page protected? Can an admin please reset that? Thanks! --Tom 02:44, 25 July 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Never mind, I removed the tag. This article does not appear to be protected but who knows anymore. Cheers!--Tom 02:50, 25 July 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Joey Crawford has been reinstated. [1] Please remove protection from this page so it can be updated. Williamnilly 19:19, 17 September 2007 (UTC)[reply]

I redact my statement. :) Williamnilly 19:25, 17 September 2007 (UTC)[reply]

In my youtube travels I found a clip where crawford runs up to and into the player with the ball, fouling him and causing him to lose control, and then he(crawford) calls a foul, i believe on the player he had just charged. The video is http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ljjDyYzil08 . I'm not sure of the chronology of this particular incident, but it is a blatant disregard for the rules of the game and spirit of sportsmanship, and given crawford's history it seems appropriate to be mentioned. —Preceding unsigned comment added by Escapedlunatic (talkcontribs) 21:17, 29 January 2009 (UTC)[reply]

2008 Playoffs

Several phrases suggest bias, similar to previously edited sections in this article. There seems to be a persistent pattern of non neutrality here... 208.38.164.169 (talk) 10:58, 5 November 2010 (UTC)[reply]

HAHA! "There seems to be a persistent pattern of non neutrality" related to "Joe Crawford"... made my day :) —Preceding unsigned comment added by 88.66.91.170 (talk) 02:45, 1 April 2011 (UTC)[reply]

May I mention that Joe Crawford has been a very pro-Los Angeles Lakers referee? — Preceding unsigned comment added by 67.177.31.25 (talk) 01:45, 26 December 2011 (UTC)[reply]
