Oppose Just as American football coach will be cause a confusion. I suggests the article to moved to Joe Smith (American football coach, born 1873) or similar to minimize confusion between all three articles. Support per nomination. Joe Smith (coach) is incomplete disambiguation and should redirect to Joseph Smith (disambiguation)#Sports. Since both men are described as players and managers, I assumed, perhaps incorrectly, that in association football, "manager" also functions as the equivalent of "coach" in American football. In association football (soccer), at least in the UK, manager is the term used for the senior figure involved in buying/selling players, selecting teams, directing tactics, etc. Depending on the size of the club, the role can often extend to coaching. At many professional clubs, the managerial role will also involve appointing individuals to coaching roles; managers may be supported by individuals expressly described as coaches (both at a team level, eg: "First team coach" and/or for particular team roles, eg: a "goalkeeping coach"), though most managers will retain a direct involvement with training sessions, etc. Paul W (talk) 07:34, 12 April 2021 (UTC)[reply]
