Jing'an district name origin

[edit]

The article has a placeholder to request citation for "Jing'an District was named after Jing'an Temple, an ancient traditional Chinese Buddhist temple located in central of the district".

This placeholder was added by SmackBot on 2009/10/05 when the sentence was a completely different sentence all together. Then Youchen updated the sentence to the current form on 2009/11/06, but didn't delete the citation placeholder.

Given the temple has existed for 800 years at its location, to any Chinese speaking person with knowledge of Chinese "naming habits" that the Jing'an district is named after Jing'an temple, as well as Jing'an Hotel is named after the temple, plus anything else named Jing'an in the area is self evident. Any possible citation must reference another publication, which means that publication will need to cite another publication, etc. In the end, there is no way to locate the ultimate authority to reference common sense in the culture.

So I am removing the placeholder for citation.
