Haitian counterfeit money

I remember reading in the book by Shane White that Hamilton was smuggling and trying to pass copper coins. The copper coins that the Haitian government had minted were authorized but had nuch less than their face value in copper in them. The coins Hamilton smuggled also had less than their face value but weighed more than the official Haitian coins. This might have served the individuals who received them and tried using them but did not allow the government to profit. See Seigniorage RichardBond (talk) 23:57, 15 February 2022 (UTC)[reply]
