Actual name

[edit]

Jean Bartik was born Betty Jean Jennings, not Elizabeth Jean Jennings. (The former is the name on her birth certificate; Scott McCartney called her the latter in his book on the ENIAC out of confusion and despite her protestations after reading a prepublication draft of the book.) The Story story on Jean Bartik

[edit]

The Story recently interviewed Mrs. Bartik, and may provide some additional information or references for this article. Jouster  (whisper) 18:41, 16 January 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Relatives source

[edit]

First paragraph of "Early life and education" section references some missing page on computer history museum. I've checked recent versions of that page in archive and it contains the same text as http://www.computerhistory.org/fellowawards/hall/jean-bartik/ . So, the question is where do data about her family come from? Could somebody find a new reference? --Bunyk (talk) 13:10, 13 November 2017 (UTC)[reply]

@Keilana:, anyone? --Bunyk (talk) 20:33, 17 November 2017 (UTC)[reply]
@Bunyk: I found a couple and added them, hope that helps. Keilana (talk) 22:11, 19 November 2017 (UTC)[reply]

Six women, including Jean Jennings Bartik

[edit]

This page is her biography, do we need list her this way? Perhaps 'Bartik was one of six women ...'?Xx236 (talk) 07:17, 3 September 2020 (UTC) Timothy J. Bartik is probably her son, but no source.Xx236 (talk) 07:28, 3 September 2020 (UTC)[reply]
