Fair use rationale for Image:Njpw 010400.jpg

[edit]

Image:Njpw 010400.jpg is being used on this article. I notice the image page specifies that the image is being used under fair use but there is no explanation or rationale as to why its use in this Wikipedia article constitutes fair use. In addition to the boilerplate fair use template, you must also write out on the image description page a specific explanation or rationale for why using this image in each article is consistent with fair use.

Please go to the image description page and edit it to include a fair use rationale. Using one of the templates at Wikipedia:Fair use rationale guideline is an easy way to insure that your image is in compliance with Wikipedia policy, but remember that you must complete the template. Do not simply insert a blank template on an image page.

If there is other fair use media, consider checking that you have specified the fair use rationale on the other images used on this page. Note that any fair use images lacking such an explanation can be deleted one week after being tagged, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you.

January 4 Tokyo Dome ShowWrestle KingdomWP:COMMONNAME, seems to have been the name that has stuck. ViperSnake151  Talk  20:23, 14 January 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Oppose renaming the whole page as Wrestle Kingdom discounts the other events not under that name; perhaps a new page that shows all events under the Wrestle Kingdom chronology could be made, but the January 4 Tokyo Dome show is an event in itself and has not always been promoted under the WK name. Ducktech89 (talk) 16:09, 16 January 2020 (UTC)[reply]
Oppose move per above. The Dome Show was a well-established event long before it was promoted as Wrestle Kingdom—Wrestle Kingdom I was the 16th January 4 Dome Show. No objection to separate Wrestle Kingdom page outlining only the events in that chronology. — Dale Arnett (talk) 09:39, 21 January 2020 (UTC)[reply]

January 5

[edit]

Hello. After the discussion, I have one doubt. Should we include the January 5 event? I mean, the article is about the Jan 4 event. The Jan 4 it wasn't a two day event, WrestleKingdom was. What do you think?--HHH Pedrigree (talk) 16:36, 31 January 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Frankly, I think we should split the page. One for Wrestle Kingdom, and one at the current title for the pre-WK January 4th shows, with the WK article describing that annual event as "the continuation of NJPW's tradition of January 4 Tokyo Dome Shows" and this article "the tradition of January 4 shows continues with Wrestle Kingdom". That would be a way to also reduce the increasing length of this article, which is starting to get unwieldy. oknazevad (talk) 00:11, 1 February 2020 (UTC) PS, the word "show" in this title should also be lowercase, as it's not a proper noun, but a descriptive phrase. oknazevad (talk) 00:11, 1 February 2020 (UTC)[reply]
Agree. January 4 it's a series of events, while WK it's his own event. --HHH Pedrigree (talk) 14:00, 1 February 2020 (UTC)[reply]
+1 for that. SInce it's moving away from the "January 4" theme, and frankly younger viewers probably only know it as Wrestle Kingdom. As of 2021, it will have been "Wrestle Kingdom" for as long as it was the "January 4th Show" - and obviously, in 2022 will surpass that. 148.4.201.116 (talk) 15:31, 18 March 2020 (UTC)[reply]
We need to get past this strictly being about January 4, as Wrestle Kingdom has now expanded into a multi-night event. January 4 is now the kickoff night to Wrestle Kingdom - not the whole ballgame, so we can't pretend like January 5 doesn't exist (or in the case of 2022, Jan 5 AND Jan 8). I kinda feel like we're just set in our ways here and not acknowledging the fact that what was once a single night event has ballooned into a multi-night extravaganza. Things change...can't hold on to what was. Vjmlhds (talk) 04:33, 18 December 2021 (UTC)[reply]
The article is about the event that takes place on Jan 4. WK is a multi-day event, but the Jan 4 it's the Jan 4 event. You can create an article about WK and talk about multi-days. --HHH Pedrigree (talk) 13:52, 18 December 2021 (UTC)[reply]
Let's let consensus figure it out, but I will say this - Jan 4 is no longer a single, stand alone event. You can't judge new concepts by old standards. Things just ain't the they were way back when...time marches on. Vjmlhds (talk) 18:27, 18 December 2021 (UTC)[reply]
WK is a multi time event, the Jan 4 is the Jan 4 event. --HHH Pedrigree (talk) 19:55, 18 December 2021 (UTC)[reply]

I'm sorry, but Jan 4 no longer exists in its own little bubble. It is now part of the overall multi-day shindig. We just can't look at it as its own thing anymore, because it's not. Vjmlhds (talk) 15:09, 19 December 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Jan 4 stills the Jan 4 event, WK is a multi day event. Jan 4 is part of WK, but not WK --HHH Pedrigree (talk) 18:35, 19 December 2021 (UTC)[reply]
I'm not trying to give you a hard time here, but I really think you're too hung up on the January 4 date. Whatever happens on Jan 4 is now part of a bigger multi-night card (been so for 3 years now as of WK 16). You still view it as it's own separate entity, when it really now is part of a bigger event. WrestleMania is going on it's third year as a 2-night event...is each night of WM it's own separate deal, or are they part of a bigger overall event. Same thing applies to Wrestle Kingdom - both are multi-night events, and each night is a part of the overall affair. Each night is not it's own distinct event. Vjmlhds (talk) 22:01, 19 December 2021 (UTC)[reply]
It's hard to not be hung up with the Jan 4 date if the article is about the event that takes place on Jan 4. Again, WK is a multi day event, but THIS article is about the Jan 4 event, not about WK. --HHH Pedrigree (talk) 23:02, 19 December 2021 (UTC)[reply]
Apples and oranges. WK is just the most common name given to the Jan 4 event, and the event has expanded into a multi-night event where the matches taking place on Jan 4 are a part of the whole, and no longer the whole in and of itself. This is where I ask for others to take a look-see and put in their 2¢, because us going back and forth isn't gonna solve anything, and I have no interest in fighting with you (or anybody else) these days. Vjmlhds (talk) 01:17, 20 December 2021 (UTC)[reply]
No. WK is an event that takes place on Jan 4, similar to other events that took place since 1992. WK expanded, but the article is about the events that take place on one day and one place. --HHH Pedrigree (talk) 12:04, 20 December 2021 (UTC)[reply]
I agree with a Vj here. We can't treat one night of Wrestle Kingdom as a separate event just because it happens to be on the same date as the predecessor events. I reiterate what I said above: we should split the article into pre-WK January 4th shows and WK events, which continue the tradition but are their own thing, especially since Wrestle Kingdom is now a multi-night event. The night that falls on January 4th is not a separate event, and trying to split it off just so it fits this list is foolish and incorrect. oknazevad (talk) 13:34, 20 December 2021 (UTC)[reply]
agreed with oknazevad here. Its ridiculous seeing WK night 1 only dates on the Jan 4th page that ignores the other nights. Just cut off from 2006 and 2007 onward a new article. T3Deliciouz (talk) 21:21, 6 January 2023 (UTC)[reply]
There was a suggestion in this thread to split the article. Go back to what was said in the previous thread, namely "Wrestle Kingdom I was the 16th January 4 Dome Show." We're supposed to be here to chronicle the breadth of the topic, not merely repeat whatever the promotion is pushing today. Some of you have done rather poorly in that regard. If serious thought is given to a split, I hope it comes with some substance. At present, the list of references is more than twice as long as the prose in the existing article.
