administered by the PRC?
[edit]The Senkaku Islands are rightly described as "administered" by Japan since the US transferred administration in 1972 but the PRC's administration of James Shoal seem to be hardly equivalent. Is there anything at all to suggest Beijing has "de facto" control here, as opposed to a paper claim no stronger than Malaysia's? In other words why can't it be equally said that James Shoal is "administered" by Malaysia?--Brian Dell (talk) 09:52, 7 August 2012 (UTC)

"Note A reef in the South China Sea; name origin unknown."
[edit]Not sure how or if to include this in the article, but GEOnet seems to say that the origin of the term 'James Shoal' is unknown. I don't know if they mean unknown to them at the time of compilation or unknown to anyone alive, and they asked everybody. The note reads "Note A reef in the South China Sea; name origin unknown."[1] Geographyinitiative (talk) 07:51, 6 August 2020 (UTC)
