nominated for protection
Despite the fact I think of this article as a joke page, due to the outright false statements being repeatedly put in the bio recently I have nominated it for temporary protection which I'm sure it will get. Peachywink (talk) 16:10, 10 May 2015 (UTC)
why I r/m the Chinese updates
I do not dislike China but it seems like someone really wants to promote China instead of the members. Anyways the things they added here were un-sourced and at best half true. They said his parents were both from Mainland china and while I have heard Jackson's mom is from the mainland that needs a source, I have also heard his dad was always from Hong Kong which also needs a source before we can add it. The second part was adding in that Jackson was born in Hong Kong, China which is again, almost true. Jackson was born in 1994 when Hong Kong was under British rule, he was therefore born in British Hong Kong. You add notes saying it is current day --whatever the heck it is. I have no clue if Hong Kong is a part of China or if China just likes to say that, like in the case of Taiwan. Someone else can research that but sources are needed before things like this can be added.Peachywink (talk) 13:58, 28 May 2015 (UTC)
Jackson said it....
That is not a reference per Wikipedia's guidelines. I know that sounds crazy but it's meant to make sure people like politicians don't just come on here writing their entire Wikipedia page claiming themselves as the source. You need an independent reliable source to cite. Peachywink (talk) 09:06, 15 July 2015 (UTC)

Chinese updates
The part where i wrote : Jackson has also self identify as being from China is a fact with plenty sources and this was written in order for Jackson/ Got7 in whole to be received well by Chinese fans. And believe it or not Jackson's self identification of being from China and anything that he says about being Chinese/proud to be from China etc are major reasons why fans in Mainland China love him so much. 115.164.218.10 (talk) 08:35, 31 January 2016 (UTC)
- I'm sure you had good intentions but Wikipedia is not written for the approval of fans but to supply information on it's articles that is relevant, notable, and accurate. Since Hong Kong is a part of China it doesn't need to be explicitly sourced that he often says he is Chinese or from China. They don't have this over on Jackie chan's page. It would be similar to saying "Dwayne "The rock" Johnson is listed as being native Hawaiian from Hawaii, but he often refers to himself as American". That's not notable information and shouldn't be on the page. If fans want to put this pointless information somewhere than that is what Wikia is used for. Peachywink (talk) 03:45, 2 February 2016 (UTC)
- Thanks for the explanations, but Hawaii/America and Hong Kong/China relationships are different. If you ask Hawaiians "Are you American?" They wont react as how bad lots of Hong Kong people would do if people ask them "Are you from China?" Or "Are you Chinese?". Even though they are part of China now, lots of Hong Kongers tend to think that they are much more superior than mainland Chinese. Especially the generation who were born before Hong Kong's handover back to China. So Jackson identifying as a Chinese from China is definitely a notable information. Also if you do read Chinese, there are lots of source in which you can find that Jackson's parents were former athletes in China. 115.164.177.112 (talk) 06:04, 2 February 2016 (UTC)
- Then you need to find them because fan comments on forums and user uploaded information that doesn't get fact checked is not usable. Fan-subs aren't usable either. Here is a basic list of starting pints for what is and isn't usable but I should warn that it mainly only looks at Korean media and is in need of updateing, but it shows the basics of what is and isn't allowed:Wikipedia:WikiProject Korea/Reliable sources

- http://top.todayonhistory.com/a/201601/28142.html i have already listed this source. Today On History is a very popular news site in China.
王嘉尔出身于一个体育世家,爸爸是前中国著名剑客及前港队总教练王锐基,妈妈则是前中国队体操名将周平。 translates to : Wang Jia Er(Jackson) was born to an athletic family, his father Wang Rui-Ji is a former popupar Chinese fencer and a former head coach in the HK team, while his mother Zhou Ping is a former Chinese gymnast. 115.164.94.85 (talk) 12:46, 2 February 2016 (UTC)
- I did look at the site and the problem I had with it is that this post seems to have been put up by someone using a username the same way people do over at allkpop or soompi. The site doesn't state anywhere on it that it is a news source and in it's about section talks about users exchanging information. Also, in the disclaimers there is some wording in part 3 that I think sounds like a version of the site saying it is not responsible for inaccurate information but will of course change it if pointed out. That's again making me think this is not a reliable source because that is not a disclaimer you see on regular news sites.Peachywink (talk) 16:33, 2 February 2016 (UTC)
- okay. Then this will be good http://the-sun.on.cc/cnt/sport/20110706/ its already among the source given.
爸爸是前中國著名劍客及前港隊總教練王銳基,媽媽是前中國隊體操世界冠軍周平 . This points out ghat they were former athletes representing China. 115.164.61.164 (talk) 22:21, 2 February 2016 (UTC)
- Yes, that source seems perfectly fine. Peachywink (talk) 19:09, 3 February 2016 (UTC)
refernces
I personally take the stance that as long as nothing on this page violating a rule I leave it alone. However the videography section is getting pretty long and I felt it was only fair to warn editors on this page that at any point the entire thing could get deleted by an admin doing random checks (this doesn't happen often but I have seen it done). Currently none of the work is cited so they would delete it immediately with no warning. I find that the longer you wait the harder it gets to find refernces, so if anyone here did care about that stuff staying on this page forever they should probably look for some.Peachywink (talk) 15:30, 27 April 2016 (UTC)

False information
Jackson doesn't speak Japanese, and I don't think this page should be protected from editing since it has many mistakes HuangAndrea (talk) 23:26, 30 December 2017 (UTC)
- Jackson definitely speaks Japanese since he had activities in Japan. Plus he spoke Japanese in the variety show Real Man (EP01), as well as in a lot of interviews. --Cherrymjh92 (talk) 00:34, 18 April 2018 (UTC)
Languages spoken fluently
In the introduction part, it says that Jackson "speaks fluent English, Cantonese, Mandarin, Shanghainese, Japanese and Korean". However, it is not true that he speaks all these languages fluently. In an interview, he had said that he only knew the essential phrases in Shanghainese, and his Japanese is not on a fluent level either. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 203.218.157.65 (talk) 14:34, 18 September 2018 (UTC)

I am requesting for the 2nd paragraph under the subheading “Personal Life” to be removed. It states this: “In August 2019, during the 2019–20 Hong Kong protests, Wang uploaded a photo of the Chinese flag and declared himself as "one of 1.4 billion guardians of the Chinese flag" on his official Weibo account.[69]“
This has absolutely nothing to do with his “personal” life. If this is mentioned, then so should his million other weibo posts relating to many different events.
It was put there with malicious intent due to the fact that whoever put it there knows it is a controversial topic for Jackson Wang. It contributes nothing to his “Personal Life” and should not be in his Wikipedia Page.
By the way, ALL of the got7 members and the got7 page is editable besides Jackson’s. I don’t want to access anyone of anything, but it is a little suspicious.
And this article on him can be updated in many great ways and additional details but just PLEASE remove that paragraph! Wanggaeparkgae (talk) 00:47, 24 July 2020 (UTC)
pls get back to me on this❤️ Wanggaeparkgae (talk) 00:48, 24 July 2020 (UTC)
- @Wanggaeparkgae: Not done, information is about his inclinations and doesn't have a reason to not be included. Sourcing or neutrality is also not a problem here, and I don't think there's undue emphasis on the topic. Documenting controversies is allowed on Wikipedia, as long as it's written neutrally. On a seperate note, this page is protected due to persistent vandalism in the past. If you want to make other changes, you may open another edit request. ◢ Ganbaruby! (Say hi!) 01:22, 24 July 2020 (UTC)
- Yeah, it is put that unbiased and neutral way for editors who have access to respond in this frankly dumb way. It shouldn’t be there in the first place. No one mentions political controversies created by kpop stans who dont even know politics on that artist’s INFORMATIVE wikipedia page. Twitter beef should have no place in a site that’s meant to introduce/explain about his life. That would be like including his dreads issue just because it’s about his inclinations on that topic. It makes NO SENSE.
- And I like the way you acknowledge that it was protected due to persistent vandalism (during the height of the Hong Kong protests btw) but can’t fathom that someone took advantage of this “neutral” policy to make him look antagonistic on a controversial topic. And I already requested the editor who put this page into protection to unprotect it cause y’all are absolutely rude. I will remove it, and I will make this page better cause it’s pretty bad and missing a lot of information.
- Now see you could’ve been nice and just removed it but no you werent and will make me do all this work, but, trust, it will be removed. Wanggaeparkgae (talk) 01:29, 24 July 2020 (UTC)
- don’t be shy❤️reply❤️
- i also shared ur and that other girl’s weak responses to my story on ig with over 11k followers and told them to spam with edit requests of the copypasta if it doesn’t get removed so honestly it’s your choice. it’s getting removed either way❤️ Wanggaeparkgae (talk) 01:53, 24 July 2020 (UTC)
- Please see WP:WIN and WP:MEAT for why such an approach is pretty much never going to work. -- Marchjuly (talk) 07:21, 24 July 2020 (UTC)
- Hi, I am requesting for the 2nd paragraph under the subheading “Personal Life” to be removed. It states that Jackson Wang has uploaded a photo of the Chinese flag and declared himself as "one of 1.4 billion guardians of the Chinese flag" on his official Weibo account.
- The photo doesn't exist on his official weibo account and the article used as source doesn't provided any link or the photo itself to backup the claim.
- The quote was included there with malicious intent for being a controversial topic for Jackson Wang. Jackybr (talk) 04:19, 24 July 2020 (UTC)

- Wanggaeparkgae It is relevant to his personal life as it shows his support to the Chinese government and what can be inferred as opposition to the Hong Kong protests. Your claim on Naypta's Talk page that "
he is never political
" shows that you aren't looking at this with a neutral point of view and you are trying to get it removed because you don't like it. I would also like to say that I wasn't the one to put the paragraph in I just changed the date for the protests. — RealFakeKimT 09:32, 24 July 2020 (UTC)

I too am requesting for the 2nd paragraph under the subheading “Personal Life” to be removed. In an artists personal page someone with political bias has inserted, without context, a reference to a singular Weibo post. It is obviously been done with a political agenda to create hostility and negativity towards the artist and does not add any value to this artist’s page. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Jackyteamwang (talk • contribs) 04:16, 28 July 2020 (UTC)

Personal life section
I personally do not agree that a musicians personal life section should include one off social media posts that were made as part of the regime that many Chinese celebrities have to follow on Weibo. The wording here shows political bias, which doesn't show the complexity of the issue nor is actually of importance to the regular wiki viewer in regards to the singer's personal life, as the regime posts do not reflect his actual stance or support on tge issue. The second section also is misinformative as Jackson Wang did not announce it. Sicpmagna (talk) 10:18, 25 April 2021 (UTC)
