Jackson Wang
[edit]Thanks for your explanation about your changes to Jackson Wang. I gladly defer to your knowledge about this type of article and to your style changes. I followed the previous user in making these and I must admit I was a bit uncomfortable with one or two of the wordings. I was trying to accommodate a user who had made those and other changes to the article by accepting those that seemed reasonable, changing typos and rejecting those that appeared to be incorrect or at best unnecessary. The conventions of editing articles about celebrities from Hong Kong, and actually the region in general, are new to me, however. I accepted the user's claim that the information was accurate and that the user knew about editing such articles when it appears I should have been a little more skeptical or curious - or simply reverted the edit again and made the user prove their assertions with more references. Instead, I thought I could be accommodating and basically accurate by changing the parts of the edit that I thought the user had wrong (by keeping parts of the previous text). It seems I should have kept almost all of it. Sorry if the explanation is a bit long and thanks again for letting me know and setting it straight. I am glad you made the improvements. - @Donner60 Thank you for understanding, it's a bit of an ongoing edit battle on that article, that hasn't gotten bad enough to get the page protected yet but simply keeps recurring every so often so no worries. :)Peachywink (talk) 08:54, 15 July 2015 (UTC)
Jackson Wang's wikipedia
[edit]First of all, Jackson himself stated that both his parents were from China and both were athletes. (He mentioned that after his father retired as an athlete, he was hired to coach the Hong Kong Fencing team ) so his ancestry is obviously China. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 115.164.59.181 (talk) 08:58, 15 July 2015 (UTC)
- @115.164.59.181 Unfortunately first person sources are not reference material usable on Wikipedia...also please sign your future posts.Peachywink (talk) 09:02, 15 July 2015 (UTC)
Why are you keep undoing my edit? Just for your info, i posted a snapshot of jackson's wiki " Jackson Wang is a Hong Kong born Chinese rapper etc " and he liked it. I also dmed his mother to ask if the jnfos ard correct. After 2 weeks, shd replied yes. So whats thd matter?!? — Preceding unsigned comment added by 115.164.54.110 (talk) 06:20, 19 July 2015 (UTC)
- Guess what doesn't matter on Wikipedia? Whether a person likes there own Wikipedia page. Jackson is not special in anyway here, I am just trying to uphold a basic standard that pages should all follow a general set up. He is a celebrity who came from Hong Kong so his page should read similarly to other celebrties from there. Wikipedia pages are not written for the person it is written about, they are for the public so that people may find pertinent factual information about notable individuals and things, haveing a standard format for pages helps make them more readable. Whether he likes the page or not doesn't matter, it just needs to be sourced, factual, and adhere to page standards. Jackson and his family can not be sources you have to find an interview he did, and you need a real good reason for this page to not adhere to the standard format. They don't have things like the birth name listed in the info box on other Hong Kong celebrity pages and frankly there is a lot more wrong with his page I simply came in late and am trying to avoid more problems being added to the page at this point. Stick to format or go make a blog page and do whatever you want there. Peachywink (talk) 16:23, 19 July 2015 (UTC)
- After researching more of the Hong Kong celebrities Wikipedia pages I now believe it is appropriate to add the birth name to info box if a source can be given. This is important too since there is a back and forth between people who say the one part of his name is Jia er and people who say it is Ka Yee. However Hong Kong Chinese is still redundant and no other page has it. Also for the birthplace which you keep switching, Jackson was born in British Hong Kong this is simply a fact that can not be changed. Peachywink (talk) 17:43, 19 July 2015 (UTC)
JB
[edit]Have you been able to try and re-create JB's wiki page yet? It's a shame that the Korean Wiki Project decided to delete it. It's a shame that wikipedians are buckling down to how these few editors are demanding how Korean articles are to be written. I don't see this same terorism directed toward Japanese, Chinese or Pinoy articles! Mikepellerintalk 07:23, 25 July 2015 (UTC)
- I haven't been able to get back around to it for a while due to personal time constraints and building in article can be challenging and stressful...the last one I made was during a break from school but I do still have his page in my sandbox and know what changes can be made to it to possibly bring it up to standard. There are a lot of editors holding Asian music and artist articles to standards that don't make good sense considering how differently the media reports on entertainment in the West vs. in Asia. I think you sometimes need to work to re-educate some editors on how big the difference can be sometimes but there will always be some who don't listen or believe you.Peachywink (talk) 17:22, 25 July 2015 (UTC)
I wanted to say: Thank You
[edit]I know we are on two sides of the JYPE KPOP fanbase. Me on 2PM and you on GOT7, but I think we work well together. There's no reason JYPE Fans/Articles should be adverse to other JYPE/Articles.
I'd like to work with you. You seem to be free of that horrible Korean Wiki Watchlist. You know, the ones that decided how we should write about Korean Bands an such!
We need to talk "Offline" as they are watching every entry. If your phone/email is secure, I'll send you my email/phone.

- I hope you don't mind but I would rather just stick to what I am doing now. School just started for me again, and I write short e-books in my spare time. I like contributing to pages because hunting down good sources and seeing a page improve is satisfying to me. Also, I am big on privacy, it's why when Minzy's page was deleted and her fans were mad at me no one ever found more than my tumblr page to send me hate comments through. Anyways even if I wasn't paranoid about my personal info, my answer would still be no thank you, as this is a super important semester for me in school. But I wish you the best with the work on the articles and hope you don't become too discouraged with how Wikipedia works...even if it does sometimes seem totally illogical or evil. :) Peachywink (talk) 05:39, 29 August 2015 (UTC)
Ok, Cool. Here's a link I thought you might find useful. It's common, yet easily overlooked, Wiki commands. I found it by accident: Mark-up Cheatsheet Mikepellerintalk 02:47, 19 September 2015 (UTC)

[edit]Could you please help change GOT7 Junior's Page Name from "Jr." to "Junior"?
[edit]It's still "Jr." https://wiki.riteme.site/wiki/Jr._(singer)
Could you please help edit to "Junior"? I read somewhere that it needs to move page function or something but I don't have a privilege to do it as I'm a new account. Thank you. — Preceding unsigned comment added by SunBaeNim2015 (talk • contribs) 19:07, 15 November 2015 (UTC)
Hi,
You appear to be eligible to vote in the current Arbitration Committee election. The Arbitration Committee is the panel of editors responsible for conducting the Wikipedia arbitration process. It has the authority to enact binding solutions for disputes between editors, primarily related to serious behavioural issues that the community has been unable to resolve. This includes the ability to impose site bans, topic bans, editing restrictions, and other measures needed to maintain our editing environment. The arbitration policy describes the Committee's roles and responsibilities in greater detail. If you wish to participate, you are welcome to review the candidates' statements and submit your choices on the voting page. Nichkhun
[edit]Hi. Regarding Nichkhun's wikipedia. He has said that his parents are ethnic Chinese. At 0:50 he states that his parents are Chinese. https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=oLmK37ksDKc He has stated on WGM that his maternal grandparents and his paternal grandmother are from Hainan, China while his paternal grandfather was a Chinese but was born and raised in Thailand.
It is only logical to put his paternal grandfather as a Thai born ethnic Chinese as it shows his chinese ancestry as well as his ties to Thailand.
115.164.181.239 (talk) 10:49, 30 January 2016 (UTC)
- I understand what you are saying but the best source we have at the moment is Madam Tussaud's website which simply says his father is from Thailand. The problems with those sources you gave (or tried to give, you might want to check that video) that makes them unreliable is the circumstances around the information. Unless you are about to tell me you are fluent in Korean the WGM video is unusable because it was only ever fan-subed which can be inaccurate. Shownu of monster x has multiple fan-subs for an interview he gave during "No Mercy" filming and there are huge differences in how he says he left JYP. In one he says he was kicked out, another that he left on his own after becoming impatient, and in the last he doesn't answer directly but says he feels the company wanted more from him. So the WGM video is for now thrown out, let's move on to the interview he did in English. First you gave me the wrong video but I'm going to guess that was an accident. In the one you linked he never says anything about his parents or being chinese. But I have seen the video I think you wanted to link and in that one he said his parents are Chinese, he was however speaking to a room of Chinese fans with a translator and might have been simplifying it because of the translator, or to appeal to the intended audience, or simply he wanted to move on with the interview rather than make a point to accurately state his entire genealogy. I tell lots of people my mom's american but she's actually half polish I just don't feel the need to break that down all the time. These sources just aren't reliable or clear enough to say that the statements are the complete truth.Peachywink (talk) 18:56, 30 January 2016 (UTC)
- Thank you for the explanation, i understand now. I'm sorry had i caused any trouble as i'm not as experienced as you when it comes to editing articles. But i'm slowly getting it now, i'd add reliale resources everytime now. And on the WGM part, I dont speak/understand fluent Korean (i'm only half korean :') ) but to make sure of what Nichkhun said was 100% matching as what the english translation are , i had my Korean relative translate it for me and it is true that he stated his grandfather was an ethnic Chinese from Thailand. 115.164.83.55 (talk) 04:24, 31 January 2016 (UTC)
- Well if your willing to vouch for it I think we could add it to the page with a sentence like "Nichkhun stated in a past television program that his father is also ethnic Chinese." and then you site the episode, you don't need a link to a video of it, just the episode number and maybe the time at which it can be viewed.Peachywink (talk) 17:43, 31 January 2016 (UTC)

Creation of Mark Tuan's own wikipedia
[edit]Hello once again, as you've pointed out that there are very less kpop fans who are wikipedia editors. Can you create Got7 Mark's own wikipedia? Thanks. 115.164.83.55 (talk) 04:18, 31 January 2016 (UTC)
- I hate telling you no since Mark is my favorite member of Got7, which is my favorite group, but I have to. Individual pages are only supposed to be used when a member has so many notable individual activities, or other highly publicized events, that it needs to be put on a separate page to avoid cluttering up the groups main pages. On the separate page only the person's individual work should be there, and everything they did with the group remains behind on the other pages. This is why Minzy of 2NE1 doesn't have her own page - lack of solo work.
- Of course not every individual page keeps to this standard perfectly but if an overwhelming amount is obviously group work these pages will eventually get caught and taken down. Because I am Mark's fan, I know that he doesn't have enough solo events that I could site to create a page for him (at best 2, the one time he hosted simply k-pop and all those wins from idol top 10). It's not enough. Also Mark has had 3 individual pages deleted for him already. That amount of fan recreation of a deleted page puts him on many editors watch lists. The minute a new page is created for him these editors and admins will get notified and will check to see if the work on the page really is just his solo work, and if there is a substantial amount that meets the notability standard. I know this probably is very frustrating but just imagine how ticked off Minzy's fans are. She's also on that list, at this point pages created for her usually don't stay up for more than a day. Jackson's self identification of coming from China.
[edit]This is a notable information as ive said with the things going on HK, Jackson being from HK identifying as a Chinese from China is definitely notable. Also this is different from US/Hawaii relationship. HK people and China born people use different passports. He has introduced himself as "from China" and as " a Chinese "(in Korean and Chinese , this also means that he comes from China) 115.164.63.246 (talk) 07:36, 16 February 2016 (UTC)
- I tried to leave it alone and ignore it but the reference addition bugged me. It was a youtube video -not a source for notability and the truth is that it's not notable. Unless he has a scandal about it and the news starts to cover it. Find me an article talking about his specific difficulties with his nationality. We don't break down the geopolitics of everything a celebrity has ever said only what actually make news and becomes a notable topic in the celebrties career. Tzuyu's scandal is not his scandal simply because they are were on one of the shows together where she got in trouble. I tried to figure out a way to rewrite it to make it fit and I couldn't because it just doesn't go on Wikipedia. It's not something that is meant to be here and at this time the information doesn't meet the standards for inclusion. To be fair a lot of his page doesn't meet those standards, which is why it comes off as being a very poor quality article but I'm not trying to fix it all. I'm just trying to keep it from getting worse and your addition came well after I started looking at the page because fans were basically just putting down random stuff like a list of his friends. If you disagree then all you need to do is find a good quality news source talking about how he identifies himself. I maintain that one doesn't exist because only fans care about that issue. Creation of Fiestar member Cao Lu's Wikipedia.
[edit]As you've pointed out last time, there arent many kpop fans here on wiki. So, i would like to ask if you can help create Cao Lu's wiki? You have also pointed out that one must have solo appearances on shows or so on. Cao Lu has been really active on variety shows this year. Its just March, but she has appeared in 14 different variety shows. 9 being solo appearances, 2 with one or two members and 3 with all of her group members. She is also a cast of We Got Married and Real Men Female Soldier edition. Her most notable appearance on a variety dhow was last year's Radio Star . Where she gained many attention. I've noticed that Sehun's variety show appearances are mostly with EXO as a group or his members, with only 1 or 2 being himself solely. So is it possible to create her own wiki? 115.164.95.5 (talk) 04:13, 6 March 2016 (UTC)
