Question

[edit]

Dear friends, I created a page Ivan Pavle, slovak painter. There was a gallery with his paintings. They were removed from the site. Please, could you explain me, why this happened? Czech and Slovak site is the same gallery. Ivan Pavle has copyright permission for the paintings and photo paintings and sent this permission to Mr. Libor Kuba from the Czech Wikipedia team some days ago.

Thank you very much for your help... All the best... Jozef Heriban Jozef Heriban (talk) 14:09, 14 May 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Dear User:Jozef Heriban. If you could provide links to the deleted files, we could investigate better. Without knowing more, I'd say that either the permission was send too late, or it was incorrect. See Wikipedia:Donating copyrighted materials (Wikipedia cannot host images unless a free license was given allowing commercial reuse by other parties and creation of derivative works; if Mr. Pavle has given a permission like "I allow Wikipedia to show sample images", for example, it is not sufficient. Looking at File:Žena s líškou - 200x150 - akryl, olej - 2004.jpg], that image seems to have been handled properly by User:Harold, you may want to ask that user for more details. PS. If you reply here, please WP:PING me. You may also want to post at a forum where more people will see it; see Wikipedia:Where to ask for help. --Piotr Konieczny aka Prokonsul Piotrus| reply here 09:18, 15 May 2014 (UTC)[reply]
@Piotrus:@Jozef Heriban: None of the images were removed from Commons, but I removed a picture gallery in favour of incorporating a smaller selection of pictures with ample description to the article. M. Caecilius (talk) 09:34, 15 May 2014 (UTC)[reply]
@MCaecilius: Ah, I missed that. In this case we should link to a gallery on commons like this. --Piotr Konieczny aka Prokonsul Piotrus| reply here 09:37, 15 May 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Dear User:Jozef Heriban. In response to your message: our policy on galleries is here: WP:Gallery. I think we can restore some images here, through I'd suggest few images in a vertical line rather than a horizontal gallery. If nobody else comments on this, you can just do whatever you think is best. You also ask for an explanation of why the article is tagged with a number of style warnings: I'll ping User:MCaecilius who added most of them, but please, take time and read the guides and explanations linked in the warnings. --Piotr Konieczny aka Prokonsul Piotrus| reply here 07:36, 16 May 2014 (UTC)[reply]

I am not sure if this person meets Wikipedia:Notability (artists). Comments appreciated, --Piotr Konieczny aka Prokonsul Piotrus| reply here 09:37, 15 May 2014 (UTC)[reply]
