ipswich grammar
[edit]I am a student at Ipswich Grammar School. There has been alot ot work around the school lately, the Teaching Complex has been refurbished and so has the tuckshop. The Junior schol, which is now P-6 (7 now being a part of the "Middle School"), has been greatly explanded and now has a "Sports Dome", which has indoor cricket, beach volleyball and a basketball court. All the classrooms in the main classroom block now have airconditioning and so do all of the computer labs. Mr. Berry, the librarian for the school for over twenty years, left us last year and was replaced by Mr Cunningham, who was orriginally from Forrest Lake.
Editing irrelevant info
[edit]What you've put here is not what we need to know:
Famous person Ben Whedon currently attends IGS and is in grade 12.He was often reffered to as "postman" by Mr. Bell who left igs last year.
I'm getting rid of it now. DarkTurtle 09:47, 9 March 2006 (UTC)
Dane Edwards
[edit]This Dane Edwards stuff sounds like vandalism. Can someone who is at the school confirm or deny this? I left the school in 1994, and there was definitely no Dane Edwards there. The OP system was introduced during my time at the school. - Richardcavell 09:19, 1 March 2006 (UTC)
Vandalism
[edit]This vandalism is becoming very tedious. If we could semiprotect the page for a short while then the vandal(s) would get bored. - Richardcavell 12:51, 14 March 2006 (UTC)
Recent edit by Joellie
[edit]The recent edit might actually contain some useful information.
As I remember, it was St Mary's that was one street away and that IGS had the feud with. During my years (1990-1994), there were end-of-year all-in brawls between the students, and also some of us sent bomb scares to their secretaries. Or was that St Edmund's?
Also, is it the case that the 'Hail IGS' warcry is for secondary students only? - Richardcavell 04:59, 15 March 2006 (UTC)
- St Mary's is (or at least was) a girl's school so I really hope IGS boys were not engaging in all-in-brawl with the St Mary's students. I attended IGS from 1986-1991 and don't recall any all-in-brawls. Robert Brockway 03:29, 22 June 2006 (UTC)
Hail IGS
[edit]The junior school doesn't do warcrys
on a side note - The GPS bodybuilding competition is rather unofficiol and takes place twice a year at the BGGS gym.
Thugonomics
[edit]Can someoen please explain to me why this section was removed? It's highly relevant to this page
- It seems a bit silly. If you want it to go back in, please consider creating an explanation here on the talk page. - Richardcavell 22:59, 12 July 2006 (UTC)
Tournament of Minds victory
[edit]Whilst certainly not denigrating the performance (I know how hard it is to perform well at it), perhaps a separate page detailing modern sporting and academic achievements is more appropriate. As I have been out of the loop for... four years now (Senior of '02), perhaps someone with more recent knowledge is more equipped for the task. At any rate, the section as written lacks an NPOV, though this could be rectified. The alternative is deletion of the section - and relying on the link to the school. GPS Track and Field 2006
[edit]While IGS did lose the annual track and field competition for last year, the comment is inappropriately phrased.
"In 2006, IGS had their arses kicked in GPS Track & Field, showing that efficiency dropped in training which caused them to lose a running title championship which would lead into a decade in 2007"

Fair use rationale for Image:IGSentrance.JPG
[edit]Image:IGSentrance.JPG is being used on this article. I notice the image page specifies that the image is being used under fair use but there is no explanation or rationale as to why its use in this Wikipedia article constitutes fair use. In addition to the boilerplate fair use template, you must also write out on the image description page a specific explanation or rationale for why using this image in each article is consistent with fair use.
Please go to the image description page and edit it to include a fair use rationale. Using one of the templates at Wikipedia:Fair use rationale guideline is an easy way to insure that your image is in compliance with Wikipedia policy, but remember that you must complete the template. Do not simply insert a blank template on an image page.
If there is other other fair use media, consider checking that you have specified the fair use rationale on the other images used on this page. Note that any fair use images uploaded after 4 May, 2006, and lacking such an explanation will be deleted one week after they have been uploaded, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you.BetacommandBot 00:11, 6 June 2007 (UTC)
GPS Membership.
[edit]The GPS membership section needs a major re-work. It's written like a billboard for the school's recent achievements, and does not address the school's membership in the Greater Public School's association, as the title may suggest. Also the section about school captains and fine leaders should be expanded or removed, of note is a former School Captain of Ipswich Grammar participating in the criminal activities of the production and sale of illegal drugs, while (not after) he was the School's Captain. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 121.222.113.68 (talk) 08:57, 3 February 2008 (UTC)
Split
[edit]Much like the Brisbane Boys' College and St. Joseph's pages, this article looks very untidy with half of it amounting to details of alumni. If there is nobody against it, I wish to create an article just for the Old Boys Association. JRA_WestyQld2 Talk 08:34, 10 May 2010 (UTC)

Chelmsford Cup - what kind of "football" was it?
[edit]Does anyone know what kind of football was involved in the Chelmsford Cup so we can be more precise here? I'm guessing it's probably some form of rugby. Kerry (talk) 05:32, 2 November 2018 (UTC)
