New format

[edit]

What do people think of the new format that has been applied to this page for this season? I like the fact that the captains are not listed for each game (this page should be a very basic overview of a large number of events). I am not so sure about leaving out the venue (city) though. Would it be better to the the ground and the city (as before), or alternatively to show only the city but have that hyperlink to the ground. e.g., Birmingham (as the city is probably more interesting than the ground)? Ireland in Zimbabwe in January 2025

[edit]

Any confirmation about the bilateral series which was mentioned in FTP (upto 2027) ? Any comments please @Godknowme1, @Bs1jac, @PEditorS10, @Sush150, @MNWiki845 and @Kumarpramit Goodknowme (talk) 06:31, 17 November 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Not yet, but looks like they are going to play 2 Test, 3 ODIs and 3 T20Is. Godknowme1 (talk) 09:27, 17 November 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Removal of Match ID

[edit]

Some one removed match id (named @AJP2406). @Bs1jac and @PEditorS10 please take strict action against the user. Goodknowme (talk) 16:29, 17 November 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Reverted Bs1jac (talk) 17:17, 17 November 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Again that user repeat the same mistakes. Please protect the the article and block the user according to a vandalism. Goodknowme (talk) 00:57, 18 November 2024 (UTC)[reply]
I can't do that unfortunately. Fixed it a second time (by restoring the previous version and re-adding today's result). I have advised the user that such changes require consensus. Bs1jac (talk) 12:23, 18 November 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Series Match Number Instead of Match ID

[edit]

In this article, there are some games which are the series match number, eg. "1st Test", but there are others that use the Match ID, eg. "Test 2546". Is it not better to show match number in series, instead of Match ID because the Match ID is a bit irrelevant in context? Doesn't it look neater if it says "1st Test", "2nd Test", "3rd Test", in a more orderly fashion, rather that, "Test 2546", "Test 2459", "Test 2451"? AJP2406 (talk) 19:27, 22 November 2024 (UTC)[reply]

@Bs1jac @PEditorS10 AJP2406 (talk) 11:22, 23 November 2024 (UTC)[reply]
@AJP2406 We use 1st Test etc for future series where the id has not yet been allocated. The match id has always been used, and provides context in the bigger picture, imo. 1st, 2nd, 3rd within a series is obvious. Bs1jac (talk) 11:25, 23 November 2024 (UTC)[reply]
What context do you need? Surely, Test 2546 doesn’t mean much to anyone, what is there to gain from that? AJP2406 (talk) 13:21, 23 November 2024 (UTC)[reply]
@Bs1jac@PEditorS10 AJP2406 (talk) 00:52, 24 November 2024 (UTC)[reply]
@Goodknowme Bs1jac (talk) 08:19, 24 November 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Mentioning of Match ID that looking more informative and for the more info we provide main articles links, that gives 1st Test or 1st ODI or 1st T20I. International cricket is just a summary of the many International series. It can't be part away (match id). Thank you Goodknowme (talk) 08:28, 24 November 2024 (UTC)[reply]
