Proposed Revisions
[edit]My name is Gavin Cross, and I will be editing this article for a course at Rice University. I've put the course banner on this page, if you'd like to access information about the course. Income inequality in china is a pressing issue which currently directly affects a massive proportion of China’s population and economy, yet which receives relatively little coverage on Wikipedia. The article in its current state is not well-cited or formatted, and it does not address many of the important aspects of the issue.
I've just discovered the article on Rural-Urban Income Inequality which is in a similar state to this one. I'm considering combining the articles in order to consolidate the information into one more easily accessible and comprehensive article. Do any wikipedians have an opinion on this change? I hope to provide an overview, go over the history and origins, cover major factors, and discuss the different impacts of income inequality in China, including rural-urban income inequality. If you have any comments, suggestions, or revisions, please let me know!
Here is an outline of my proposed revisions:
1. History
- a. Great Leap Forward
- b. Cultural Revolution
- c. Opening
2. Current State
- a. Factors
3. Impact
- a. Migration
- b. Gender
- c. Class
4. Policy Recommendations

Merger Proposal
[edit]I propose that Rural urban income inequality in China be merged into Income inequality in China. I think that rural urban income inequality is a subset of overall income inequality, and merging the articles would consolidate information and allow me to better improve the content rather than splitting revisions across multiple articles with overlapping content. — Preceding comment added by GavinCross (talk • contribs) 16:08, 20 March 2014 (UTC)
Peer Review 2
[edit]Your article looks fairly comprehensive; the additions you’ve made are helpful to the entire article and interesting and really make it comprehensive and more globally and socially focused. You have a good amount of sources. You could maybe try to have more than one or two sources for an individual section, as it could become more biased by only relying on one source for a section like the Factors sections, or Urban-Based Policy section. Also, introducing the source before citing it or sticking in a quote can help credibility and therefore neutrality. Adding illustrations would be good as well. Paper not published in a journal
[edit]Hello, I can't find the source "Shixue, Jiang. Economic Development and Integration in Asia and Latin America. Tokyo. 2003-09-29" on internet. Can anyone find the journal from which it was published? Right now, the "cite journal" template displays an error message : ~" missing journal statement" or something like that Blocktomo (talk) 18:35, 15 March 2024 (UTC) Blocktomo (talk) 18:35, 15 March 2024 (UTC)
- This source doesn't seem to be in the article, where are you seeing this error? Remsense诉 18:58, 15 March 2024 (UTC)
- Ah, this seems to be about your edit to Income inequality in China. I'm going to move this topic over to Talk:Income inequality in China. Remsense诉 19:01, 15 March 2024 (UTC)
- @Blocktomo, I found the paper: seemed that the title got a bit messed up in translation. Cheers! Remsense诉 19:19, 15 March 2024 (UTC)
- Wow, great job! Is it really the same article? The two titles are so different...
- Thank you for your help anyways! Blocktomo (talk) 15:20, 16 March 2024 (UTC)
