- ... that Mariah Carey does not know Jennifer Lopez? Source: CNN "Years ago, Mariah Carey was asked during an interview about fellow singer/actress Jennifer Lopez. Carey shook her head and proclaimed, 'I don’t know her.'" In 2016, "[Carey] insisted that while she and Lopez may have crossed paths, she does not 'know' her."

- @Heartfox: Not a review, but I have to say this article feels very one-sided in favor of Carey—with Lopez not quoted even once. I wouldn't go so far as to call it a hit piece, but it feels weird not to mention her side of the story. Did she have anything to say about the rivalry or the meme, or has she maintained radio silence over it? Even if it's the latter, I think that bears mentioning in the article. DigitalIceAge (talk) 03:48, 19 October 2023 (UTC)
- Thank you for the comments. It was not my intention to make it seem one-sided at all, and I don't think it is. The article mentions that the rivalry was formed by the media, and gives two sides of interpreting the phrase. Lopez is not singled out for her specific actions in any way. It is more about Carey's former record label and ex-husband's alleged actions, and Lopez was caught in the middle. I do understand your point of view and I will incorporate more context later today when I have more time. Heartfox (talk) 13:48, 19 October 2023 (UTC)
- No problem. It's an interesting and well-cited article with a strong DYK hook otherwise, and I appreciate the commitment to adding balance. DigitalIceAge (talk) 17:05, 19 October 2023 (UTC)
- I added some more context from Lopez's side. Heartfox (talk) 22:38, 19 October 2023 (UTC)

- @Heartfox: Image licensing good: 2 free and one that follows NFCC. Article new enough (published from draft) and long enough. Hook is good and cited inline. Article is well sourced, neutral, no BLP violations, and no copyvio detected (though I would advise you to cut down on your usage of quotes even further for your GA nom; take a look at WP:Copyediting reception sections). Nominator's second nomination for DYK so no QPQ needed. Looks good! ~ F4U (talk • they/it) 14:28, 15 November 2023 (UTC)

- Comments go here
- Lopez and Carey photos used in prose are properly used with appropriate captions. Use of the non-free image (the GIF itself) is valid to properly illustrate the meme
- Coverage is good. Quick question, do we have any more sources on Lopez's reaction to the meme (or lack thereof) beyond 2004?
- Added a 2016 reference
preparing her debut album Mariah Carey (1990) than with other artists
change to "other artists'" with the apostrophe since you're referring to their albums and not themselves- Added
Similar to the discord fomented
perhaps simpler language would do ?- Changed to "conflict instigated"
- Name the release year for Glitter as you did the other media works
- Added
Carey alleges
tense inconsistency. ditto withshe has a feud
andis rude to Lopez
- Suggest changing to "Carey alleged", "had a feud", and "had been rude to Lopez"
- Added
- Suggest changing to "Carey alleged", "had a feud", and "had been rude to Lopez"
- May I ask about the inclusion of the note re. Ashanti?
- Helps contextualize Carey's claim that Lopez doesn't sing her own songs
promoting follow-up
currently ambiguous; you should specify that album was Carey's- Reworded
- The claim "I don't know her" is one of the world's most popular memes strikes me as a bit WP:EXCEPTIONAL, so perhaps more citations beside it (and maybe an attribution?) would make it more GA-compliant
- It says "one of the most", not "the most", so I don't think it is that exceptional. It does come from CNN. With the amount of coverage and adaptations, its popularity is alluded to in other sources but CNN is the best one says it explicitly.
- Spotchecked a few sources for any OR or failed citations and I don't see any red flags
- Blair source is okay and supports the "
an honest response because she does not know Lopez personally
" bit - Hill source supports the stuff about Demi Lovato
- Hyde source is spot-on
- Weber & Finger supports the quotations used
- Blair source is okay and supports the "
- Most of the hits on the copyvio director come from quotations, the use of which in the article is reasonable and not excessive

Celebrity Gossip
[edit]Other than the statement, "I don't know her," which could be included in Mariah Carey's article and a few other things that actually happened, this article turns wikipedia into a gossip column. It should be speedily deleted. Wastrel Way (talk) Eric Wastrel Way (talk) 22:47, 27 November 2023 (UTC)
- What does the article say that is not a fact? Heartfox (talk) 23:30, 27 November 2023 (UTC)
- I'm not sure WP:NOTSCANDAL applies here. Much of the article discusses the phrase's use as an Internet meme and does not focus solely on documenting celebrity drama. A good chunk of the first and third paragraphs of the "Description" section and the entire "Analysis" section talks about "I don't know her" in such a context. Elias 🌊 💬 "Will you call me?"

Missing 3 relevant information
[edit]1. There's a second second called if we that was ripped off together with loverboy.
2. Not only the two songs were ripped off, the concept of sound strategy were too.
3. This maneuver caused Mariah to redo loverboy, redo material, consequently delayed the project, which in turns came to be released on november 11th. 2804:14C:126:809E:6D14:C043:2A89:AA84 (talk) 16:54, 6 January 2024 (UTC)
