No. 1 in UK SALES CHART!

NZ chart peak is wrong

[edit]

It failed to make Top 40 https://nztop40.co.nz/chart/hotsingles?chart=5202 Coachtripfan (talk) 12:43, 11 September 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Correct link

@Coachtripfan: Please learn the difference between the NZ Top 40 Singles Chart and the NZ Hot Singles Chart. "I Still Have Faith in You" appeared on the NZ Hot Singles Chart, which as you might know since you linked to it, is not the main singles chart of New Zealand. Ss112 14:20, 11 September 2021 (UTC)[reply]

I know the Hot Singles Chart is not the main one.

Having it listed is misleading. Remove it or say it is not the official chart. Add the official chart. The song failed to make Top 40 on that.

HOT SINGLES PLACING is misleading Coachtripfan (talk) 15:20, 11 September 2021 (UTC)[reply]

No, it isn't misleading at all. It's clearly marked as the NZ Hot Singles Chart. It would only be misleading if we claimed it made number six on the NZ Top 40. If nobody can tell that's not the NZ Top 40 or the main chart of New Zealand, that's their issue. Stop edit warring or you will be reported to an administrator. You have no valid claim here. Ss112 11:25, 12 September 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Some people may not know the difference between the two charts. Why should they? Simply state the difference. Coachtripfan (talk) 21:51, 14 September 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Because this is not the article for the New Zealand charts, and it is not relevant to this article. Official New Zealand Music Chart already explains this. Ss112 00:09, 15 September 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Remove NZ chart placing

[edit]

It is not official. Not sales. It is a list of new singles.

By listing it - and without explsing it, giving the impression it is official.

Fact is this song failed to make NZ Top 40 Coachtripfan (talk) 17:38, 11 September 2021 (UTC)[reply]

You don't know what you're talking about. Charts do not need to be sales charts to be listed. Streaming charts can be listed if a song did not make the overall songs chart. The chart is published by Recorded Music NZ, so it is an official chart, as it's published by the chart provider of New Zealand. I think you mean "it's not the main chart". NZ Hot Singles Chart peaks are allowed to be listed if a song did not make the NZ Top 40. There's hundreds of instances where this occurs on Wikipedia. If you have an issue with this, stop edit warring and complaining here, and go get consensus to remove it at Wikipedia talk:Record charts. Ss112 11:28, 12 September 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Why don't you simply say the song failed to make the main chart but did get ti #6 in this lesser chart?

Simple - you want to give impression it was moee successful than it was Coachtripfan (talk) 15:59, 14 September 2021 (UTC)[reply]

I'm not invested in how successful the song is. This is a chart table, not a discography. If it were a discography, we would put a note saying it did not make the main chart but charted on the NZ Hot Singles Chart (as ABBA discography has). In this chart table, the song is credited as charting on the NZ Hot Singles Chart, not "New Zealand (Recorded Music NZ)", which is the overall chart. It's not my fault if other readers cannot discern between the main New Zealand chart and NZ Hot Singles Chart. Ss112 16:23, 14 September 2021 (UTC)[reply]

NZ Hot Singles charts

[edit]

These aren't the main official chart in NZ. They should be removed or it made clear they are NOT the main NZ chart Coachtripfan (talk) 10:31, 14 September 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Stop editing while logged out. That isn't going to work either. I will revert you whether you edit from an IP address or using your registered account. Nobody is saying it is the main chart of New Zealand. Nobody is trying to mislead readers into believing it is the main top 40. Stop starting new damn threads on this same topic. What are you trying to accomplish here? There are two threads you started on this very topic just above. Enough is enough. Ss112 16:26, 14 September 2021 (UTC)[reply]
Stop creating sections about the same thing. Any more are going to be deleted as disruptive. You simply don't seem to understand how Wikipedia handles charts. Please stop wasting time on this. Sergecross73 msg me 16:44, 14 September 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Add in chart performance section:

  1. 1 - UK Official Vinyl Singles Chart

https://www.officialcharts.com/charts/vinyl-singles-chart/ NYAndreas (talk) 22:55, 14 September 2021 (UTC)[reply]

@NYAndreas: Vinyl sales contribute towards the overall UK Singles Chart, so that is a component chart that we would not add per WP:CHARTMATH. Ss112 00:06, 15 September 2021 (UTC)[reply]
