Adoption date?
[edit]The intro says 1995, while the 'Users' list 1997. Which is it?--Surv1v4l1st (Talk|Contribs) 21:23, 5 October 2010 (UTC)
- The date given in the users list (1997) cites a source, and the date in the infobox (1995) is unsourced. I changed the infobox date to agree with the sourced date. ROG5728 (talk) 20:02, 6 October 2010 (UTC)
- OK, thanks for the update.--Surv1v4l1st (Talk|Contribs) 17:09, 8 October 2010 (UTC)
Popular culture
[edit]I added a popular section referencing the Negev's image in Counter Strike: Global Offensive. I have no direct citation right now but it can be cited.--JohnAndersonian (talk) 19:54, 4 November 2012 (UTC)
- That isn't noteworthy. Please see the pop culture guidelines at WP:GUNS. ROG5728 (talk) 23:30, 4 November 2012 (UTC)

Vandalism Report
[edit]I've created the page Negev NG7.
However, someone shadow deleted that page in a suspected move of vandalism.
This page was translated from its origin Negev NG7[he] according to WP:Translation.
Please undo that vandalism. IdanST (talk) 09:34, 19 November 2024 (UTC)
- Nobody "shadow deleted" anything, and you need to assume good faith. Your edit was reverted and the article was redirected back to this one as it's merely a rechambered variant of the Negev with insufficient independent information about it to merit an additional page. ⇒SWATJester Shoot Blues, Tell VileRat! 17:14, 19 November 2024 (UTC)
- There were 5 different references and 11 resources about Negev NG7 and over 9,000 letters (over 9000!).
- It's not a "merely a rechambered variant" but a machine gun on its on that competes with Heckler & Koch MG5 (based on MG4 but its page wasn't deleted uh?), XM250 and FN MAG. IdanST (talk) 19:01, 19 November 2024 (UTC)
- It is "a merely a rechambered variant", and variants already covered in the article. For a more direct comparison, take a look at the article on the FN Minimi. Like the Negev, the FN Minimi is a light machine gun chambered in both 5.56mm and 7.62mm calibers. And FN Minimi is covered comprehensively in a single article, without separate article for each caliber variant. Furthermore, the FN Minimi article is longer and includes more references compared to the articles on the Negev. Ckfasdf (talk) 21:33, 19 November 2024 (UTC)
- The XM250 is not in service, the Heckler & Koch MG5 does not have subpages for each of it's variants (the MG5 A1, MG5 A2, MG5 S, etc.), and neither does the FN MAG nor the M240 machine gun. And "competes with" is an exaggeration. If we can cover everything in a single article, it's preferable to do so. ⇒SWATJester Shoot Blues, Tell VileRat! 22:30, 19 November 2024 (UTC)
- 7.62×51mm NATO Heckler & Koch MG5 is a variant of 5.56×45mm NATO Heckler & Koch MG4 that is even stated here. IdanST (talk) 12:41, 20 November 2024 (UTC)
- Note that there is a difference between "variant" and "derivative". The MG5 is explicitly stated to be a derivative of the MG4 in its article, not a variant. The article makes it clear that
the MG5 is heavily based on the MG4
, but it is not referred to as variant of MG4. Ckfasdf (talk) 13:06, 20 November 2024 (UTC)- Same as Negev NG7 that is heavily based on Negev but not a variant. IdanST (talk) 13:17, 20 November 2024 (UTC)
- I think creating AfD proposal would be the suitable action instead of deleting with no consensus. IdanST (talk) 13:18, 20 November 2024 (UTC)
- This redirect is already reviewed by at least two administrators (Hey man im josh and Swatjester). I dont see any point go through AfD for obvious case of WP:REDUNDANTFORK as NG7 is already comprehensively covered in Negev article. Ckfasdf (talk) 13:36, 20 November 2024 (UTC)
