Albums Listed
[edit]I'm removing the list of albums on this page. Listing every album available is absurd. OlYellerTalktome 21:43, 9 March 2010 (UTC)
- I'm inclined to agree. However, this article is still the best (only?) way to find iTunes LPs. Do you think a Wikipedia category for these would be more appropriate? --Evil Eccentric (talk) 01:16, 1 September 2010 (UTC)
2011 update
[edit]I agree, and have restored the article in agreement with the above consensus. Turning this article into a directory listing every iTunes LP is unencyclopedic. Drmies (talk) 17:41, 28 September 2011 (UTC)
- See, for instance, WP:NOTDIR. This article was been turned into a list which has as little validity as List of CDs. It was pointed out by one editor that the list is useful, but that is not a valid reason for keeping it the way it was. Drmies (talk) 17:57, 28 September 2011 (UTC)
- I still think the article shouldn't include the list. Is there even a reliable source to back up the list? If so, it would probably be more beneficial to include it as an external link. Creating a category would also be useful. OlYellerTalktome 18:58, 28 September 2011 (UTC)
- This external page doesn't exist, this WIki page become the bible for all iTunes LP fans, and I know a lot of people consult it. It took me hours to update it and keep it up to date.Hooltra (talk) 19:07, 28 September 2011 (UTC)
- That List of CDs (or something like it) doesn't exist as a wiki article was precisely my point. Such lists are not encyclopedic. Drmies (talk) 19:17, 28 September 2011 (UTC)
- Maybe we can find a solution, but don't erase that list, it's a real source of information for a lot of people. If we create a "iTunes LP List" page, and put the link into the iTunes LP page, will you accept that ?Hooltra (talk) 19:38, 28 September 2011 (UTC)
- I stand by what I said a year ago; this list is important. However, I agree it can't stay in this form. For now, I recommend a revert (put the list back), and then create an iTunes LP category or list article. After all the albums are in the category or list, we can remove the list from this page. Otherwise, this valuable information would be lost. I've used this page many times before to help me decide between the CD or the iTunes version. And Hooltra's right that (AFAIK) this is the only such list of iTunes LPs on the Internet. --Evil Eccentric (talk) 19:46, 28 September 2011 (UTC)
- But how would List of ITunes LPs be valid under our guidelines? Is there another example anywhere of such a list on Wikipedia, a list where membership is only determined by the medium? List of books? List of albums? (Note that those are redirects, and that they go to articles with lists that have specific criteria for inclusion.) Drmies (talk) 19:54, 28 September 2011 (UTC)
- I know there are no such example on Wikipedia because iTunes LP is a very specific category, it's not a classical media. Do you have an idea to not lost this important source of information ? ThxHooltra (talk) 20:49, 28 September 2011 (UTC)
- OlYeller has a suggestion, above. BTW, that it's a new medium has no bearing on this discussion. The category is no more special than any other. Whether this is notable as a category, I personally doubt that--but that's just me. Drmies (talk) 02:17, 29 September 2011 (UTC)
- They also suggested, as I did, to take it up at the appropriate project, Wikipedia:WikiProject Music. Thank you. Drmies (talk) 13:31, 29 September 2011 (UTC)

[edit]I think iTunes Extras should be its own article because they are not the same thing, and each has a different meaning and background.--Proud User (talk) 14:51, 27 November 2015 (UTC)
