More detailed information
[edit]Is there a reason why this article does not include more detailed information like that in the article on ISO 31-11? Perhaps it is out of respect for the copyright of ISO in their standard. In particular, I was looking for the answer to the question that I have posed at Talk:ISO 31-11#Phi. JonH (talk) 07:11, 25 October 2012 (UTC)
- Copyright only applies to the particular style and way of presentation of the information; the information itself is not copyrightable.
- Trade secrets are a separate issue, but if an ISO standard is a trade secret, it rather defeats the point of being a standard. Of course, being non-open-access also defeats the point of trying to encourage a standard, because most people who want to check will have to believe that "they say that they say that apparently the standard is claimed to be ...".
- Probably the main reason for a lack of detail is that people willing to edit don't have access. Boud (talk) 21:10, 18 April 2019 (UTC)
- We can't add this archival link to the article until/if the copyright situation is clarified, but the content can be used - select some of the more important points. Boud (talk) 21:32, 18 April 2019 (UTC)
