Disambiguation

[edit]

@Prahlad balaji: Note that in almost all circumstances, primary redirects to a parenthetically disambiguated page are proscribed per WP:DAB. The rationale is this: either iPhone SE (1st generation) is the primary topic, in which case the it should simply reside at iPhone SE (because by definition of primary topic, parenthetical disambiguation is unnecessary). Or it is not the primary topic, and iPhone SE should be a disambiguation page. -- King of 02:50, 16 April 2020 (UTC)[reply]

@King of Hearts: In many articles, the term "iPhone SE" is still being used to refer to the first gen. Your disambiguation page iPhone SE (disambiguation), and its talkpage is also what this one used to be. Pages get moved around and links get broken all the time. The correct fix is not to stand in the way of complying with disambiguation/naming conventions for fear that the work would be too hard, but to actually update all the links. For now readers will still be able to get where they want to go, with just one additional click. -- King of 02:58, 16 April 2020 (UTC)[reply]
@King of Hearts: But there is already a disambiguation page for iPhone SE. Check it out here. There is no need to make this a disambiguation page when there already is one that has a clearer title, so that readers know that it's actually a disambig page. -PRAHLADBalaji 04:07, 16 April 2020 (UTC)[reply]
@King of Hearts: They might not know which is which; readers might be looking for the 2016 iPhone, but end up going to the 2020 one. Not everybody is tech-savvy. -PRAHLADBalaji 13:52, 16 April 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Double redirect

[edit]

@King of Hearts: Can you please modify the redirect target so that this redirects to iPhone SE (1st generation)? This redirect is currently a double redirect, and we don't want that. -Thanks, PRAHLADBalaji 14:28, 20 April 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Given the RfD tag, it's not going to redirect anywhere anytime soon. The closing admin will fix the situation in the end. -- King of 14:49, 20 April 2020 (UTC)[reply]
Thanks for letting me know. -PRAHLADBalaji 08:00, 22 April 2020 (UTC)[reply]
