Meaning of the song
Does anyone else have anything to add on the meaning of the lyrics or of the song? Or even Michael's thoughts on the song?
I saw Jackson's book "Moonwalker" and he mentioned the stuff said in the current article. I will confirm this tommorow.
What does the "soft nature of the song" mean?Boleslaw 18:53, 28 March 2007 (UTC)
There is very conflicting info on Wikipedia about this song; One posting cites it as being written for Madonna's 6th album and released on June 6, 1995 (see http://wiki.riteme.site/wiki/Human_Nature_(Madonna_song)). Yet another article claims it was written for Michael Jackson by Steve Porcaro and John Bettis for MJ's 6th album, Thriller, which was released on July 3, 1983 (see http://wiki.riteme.site/wiki/Human_Nature_(Michael_Jackson_song). That's a whopping difference of 12 years and, certainly, two very different entertainers! In addition the first article which attributes the song to Madonna never gives any credit to the real lyricists. Could someone please correct this clearly misleading information? Jason Nevins and Holly James sample
I have referenced both Youtube and Amazon. The Amazon link tells you that the song exists and by listening to the sample of the song, any idiot can tell that it samples human nature. Pyrrhus16 seems to think this is not a decent reference and so accused me of vandalism! WikiWebbie (talk) 19:12, 4 June 2009 (UTC)
Live Performance
I'm not sure if Wikipedia permits information on live performances, but Human Nature seems to stand out compared to Jackson's other songs. I believe HBO's Dangerous Tour in Bucharest is a perfect example [it can be found on YouTube]. Most of the song's performance was based on touch, rather than on sound, as indicated by the number of soulful moves, a slower tempo, and many lyrics taken out to emphasize on this effect. It's also important to note that Human Nature, regardless of album release, was performed in the Victory Tour with the Jackson 5, Bad World Tour, and Dangerous World Tour.
All can be sourced with YouTube video performances, as well as sources on the set lists of the Tour Wiki sites.

- YouTube videos are not considered reliable sources. They also have copyright. Frankyboy5 (talk) 03:38, 22 December 2009 (UTC)
- I've seen MANY articles where the sources have been YouTube videos. Not to mention, I own the DVD of the Dangerous Tour in Bucharest. How can you source DVDs on Wikipedia? Wouldn't a live streaming video of the same content be considered reliable? Troyoda1990 (talk) 19:44, 24 December 2009 (UTC)
Miles Davis as original composer
It has known in the music community that this composition was originally written by Miles Davis. Later on, the guys from his band, Bettis Porcaro and Lukather "borrowed" it and "reworked" it for Michael. If someone has a magazine article to back this up and can update this wikipedia entry, it would be appreciated.--69.250.161.179 (talk) 16:50, 12 June 2010 (UTC)
- I realize this is an old thread, but since it's not yet archived: I'm a Davis fan and am not sure about Davis writing it, but I remember him introducing pop songs in the Jazz repertoire, including this one. This surprisingly isn't mentioned either. I'll try to look for relevant sources when I can. Davis playing this song is definitely notable, some of his best last performances included it. —PaleoNeonate – 05:57, 12 July 2019 (UTC)
- Hmm seems that it used to be in the article with a source. —PaleoNeonate – 06:28, 12 July 2019 (UTC)
Music Video
Doesn't an animated music video exist for this song. I remember seeing a brief clip of it on Moonwalker, and I think the full version eventually surfaced online a couple of years ago. Why isn't there any info on it? 134.190.160.236 (talk) — Preceding undated comment added 20:09, 5 January 2015 (UTC)
