Provenance
[edit]Copy/pasted from a section the Artemis program article. Go there for the edit history. I created this page to retain the details of the HLS development history, because they were making the main Artemis program article too cumbersome. These details are also in desperate need of restructuring, but I felt it would be easier to do that here rather than in the main article. Now that I have created this article, I will go replace the source contents in the main article with a summary, and I will then come back here to clean this mess up. -Arch dude (talk) 02:57, 12 September 2021 (UTC)
- The article is now restructured and is less bad than it was. -Arch dude (talk) 16:41, 14 September 2021 (UTC)
needs to be restructured, again.
[edit]On further analysis, I see that there are actually four separate sets of contracts:
- a whole bunch of "little" study contracts awarded to 11 companies in May 2019
- The set of 3 big design studies for the "initial" HLS awarded in 2020
- The big DDT&E for the "initial" HLS awarded to SpaceX in April 2021
- A set of big design studies awarded to 5 companies for the "sustained" HLS awarded in September 2021
- (presumably, there will be a big DDT&E contract set for the "sustained" HLS at a future date. This needs investigation)
NASA intended to award "zero or more" contracts in each set depending on available funding.
I'm too tired to do the research and restructuring tonight. -Arch dude (talk) 00:02, 24 September 2021 (UTC)
