Questioning article arrangement
[edit]Am a rather new editor here, but I'm curious why the domestic violence section is so high up on the page. I'm not looking to downplay the incident, but I don't recall seeing other bios where something like this practically takes top billing. Jsmathematics (talk) 01:07, 19 May 2018 (UTC)
- I removed the whole section. It borderline seemed written to make Bryant look bad while still being basically factual. I obviously have no idea what actually happened, but the charges were dropped [1] meaning there was not even a trial much less a conviction. It seems like it was a somewhat or even very unpleasant incident (and maybe Bryant was very much in the wrong, who knowws), but Bryant is a relatively minor figure with a short bio that should not be just as focused on one family incident that resulted in no formal charges as it is on his career as a journalist and author--the only thing for which he is notable. It's a BLP issue so please let's not re-add this material. Doing so just makes the case for deleting these sort of articles since we can never properly "police" them for unfair edits that cast a living person in an unfairly negative light.
