When I added to the Hoodlum page, I was told I could not add an external link to my research. I was told to create a new entry. Now I am told that my separate entry should be added to the Hoodlum page. MC Potbelly (talk) 03:55, 17 November 2017 (UTC)[reply]

@MC Potbelly: I've moved the original page to Hoodlum (disambiguation) (and I've taken the introductory content from there and added it to your new article here), and I've moved your new article to take the place of the primary subject. Earlier reference in 1859

[edit]

Newspapers.com search reveals a reference several years earlier in the Pacific Commercial Advertiser from June 30, 1859, in which native thieves posed as policemen to hold up travelers.

First use of "hoodlum" in an article about young Hawaiian natives posing as police to commit theft.
