Earliest use

[edit]

If anyone has a full edition of theOED or other reliable source at hand, could they please give us the earliest usage or better literary examples?

Thanks. --Lucyintheskywithdada (talk) 05:22, 21 February 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Merger proposal (2008)

I suggest this article be merged with Fuck as there is significant overlap and Wikipedia is not a dictionary. Placing this article within the context of the Fuck article should help readers understand it better. Strobilus (talk) 17:17, 21 February 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Requested move 5 December 2015

[edit]
The following is a closed discussion of a requested move. Please do not modify it. Subsequent comments should be made in a new section on the talk page. Editors desiring to contest the closing decision should consider a move review. No further edits should be made to this section.

The result of the move request was: moved. There is a clear consensus that Fuck#Holy fuck is the primary topic for this term. No consensus on whether the band should be renamed, that will require a separate discussion if desired. Jenks24 (talk) 12:51, 14 December 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Holy fuckHoly fuck (disambiguation) – term has a primary topic – Snuggums (talk / edits) 07:35, 5 December 2015 (UTC)[reply]

This is a contested technical request (permalink). Anthony Appleyard (talk) 09:45, 5 December 2015 (UTC)[reply]
  • That doesn't answer my question though: what happens to the page title Holy fuck following a move? But the band doesn't have to be listed as the main topic on the dab page, you can just edit the page to show otherwise and not move anything... PC78 (talk) 14:58, 5 December 2015 (UTC)[reply]
  • Support redirecting to Fuck#Holy fuck as primary topic, leaving dab page at Holy fuck (disambiguation) (but adding the "Redirect" hatnote to that section, not the top of the page, so that it can easily be seen by redirected readers). Oppose redirecting to Holy Fuck band, which I think is what the proposer intends. (ANd agree that the band should probably be at Holy Fuck (band), the term being the primary topic for the capitalised version too). PamD 10:19, 6 December 2015 (UTC)[reply]
  • Comment: as the proposal was ambiguous this discussion is probably invalid and should be re-started with a clear statement as to the whole proposal. Editors seem to agree "term has a primary topic" but disagree what that topic is. PamD 10:19, 6 December 2015 (UTC)[reply]
  • Sorry for an unclear initial proposal (I admittedly wasn't planning for this to go to RM), but "Holy fuck" (phrase) is primary topic overall, and "Holy Fuck" (band) is primary topic for capitalized terms. The capitalization is enough of a difference per WP:DIFFCAPS for neither to need parentheticals. As an example, there is Ice cube and Ice Cube.
