To address the WP:Notability tag placed on this article: The Westwood Village Specific Plan (1986) included an "historical survey which identifies historically and architecturally significant buildings" in Westwood Village, Los Angeles. Holmby Hall was named in the survey as one of the buildings of historical and architectural significance. Also Holmby Hall was included on a shortlist of potential candidates for the National Register of Historic Places. Source: "Westwood Community Plan (May 2001) pgs 44-45" (PDF). (City of Los Angeles - Dept. of City Planning. Retrieved 2009-15-11). {{cite web}}: Check date values in: |accessdate= (help)

An article in the Los Angeles Times describes the building in these terms: "The Holmby Building designed by Gordon B. Kaufmann and reputed to be one of the finest pieces of architecture in Los Angeles" "Gas Station Started". (Los Angeles Times. Retrieved 2009-17-11. {{cite web}}: Check date values in: |accessdate= (help))

An example of "Significant Coverage" is found in the book 'The city observed, Los Angeles: a guide to its architecture and landscapes‎' by C. W. Moore, P. Becker, R. Campbell (Random House, 1984) - pg 207:
"The Spanish Colonial Revival building (3 B) at the southwest corner of Westwood Boulevard and Le Conte (originally Holmby Hall; Gordon B. Kaufmann and John and Donald Parkinson, 1930) is particularly redolent of the charm of the old paradigm, with arches on the first floor, shuttered windows on the second and an arcaded loggia on the third. At the end of this richly Spanish block, at the northwest corner of Westwood and Weyburn Avenue, is a tall, Gothically capped Classical clock tower (3 C) that thrusts up above the New Wave entrances of recently remodelled boutiques."

There is more coverage of Holmby Hall at Holmby building "Pacific Coast Architecture Database". {{cite web}}: Check |url= value (help); Unknown parameter |(accessdate= ignored (help) and in ‘An Architectural Guidebook to Los Angeles’ by David Gebhard & Robert Winter (Gibbs Smith 2003) – page 137.

Holmby Hall was described as an "historic building" by Los Angeles Times architecture critic Leon Whiteson "L.A. Architecture's Solid Gray Brigade". (Los Angeles Times. Retrieved 2009-15-11. {{cite web}}: Check date values in: |accessdate= (help)) and in the "University of Southern California Alumni News". (U.S.C. Retrieved 2009-15-11). {{cite web}}: Check date values in: |accessdate= (help) and described as a "Westwood landmark" in an "article by John Dreyfuss". (Los Angeles Times. Retrieved 2009-17-11). {{cite web}}: Check date values in: |accessdate= (help)

Holmby Hall’s history is tied in with that of the University of California Los Angeles (one of the most culturally significant campuses in the USA), as Holmby Hall was used as the very first dormitory for female students of UCLA. As the notability of Holmby Hall has now been demonstrated I am removing the WP:Notability tag from this article and have updated the article.Marcusaurelius161 (talk) 16:10, 18 November 2009 (UTC)[reply]
