I check pages listed in Category:Pages with incorrect ref formatting to try to fix reference errors. One of the things I do is look for content for orphaned references in wikilinked articles. I have found content for some of History of Bangladesh after independence's orphans, the problem is that I found more than one version. I can't determine which (if any) is correct for this article, so I am asking for a sentient editor to look it over and copy the correct ref content into this article.

Reference named "BBC":

I apologize if any of the above are effectively identical; I am just a simple computer program, so I can't determine whether minor differences are significant or not. AnomieBOT 17:47, 20 October 2019 (UTC)[reply]

History of Bangladesh after independenceHistory of the People's Republic of Bangladesh – The new title is similar in name to other titles. Examples: History of the Republic of India, History of the Islamic Republic of Pakistan, History of the People's Republic of China. • Oppose rename per the nom - these are lousy models, History of the Islamic Republic of Pakistan in particular. They should probably copy this. I can't work out when "People's Republic of Bangladesh" became the formal name, but it was 1971/72 at the earliest. We do all realize that there were two "independence"s here, I hope - first from British India as part of Pakistan (1947), then from Pakistan in 1971-2. This article covers 1972 onwards. That makes the current title potentially ambiguous. Johnbod (talk) 12:49, 8 June 2020 (UTC)[reply]
@Johnbod: Bangladesh was once part of Pakistan when it was called East Pakistan. This article starts when Bangladesh became independent from Pakistan and not the UK. In my opinion, the new title makes it clear which independence we’re talking about. It was when it was called the People’s Republic of Bangladesh. Requested move 30 November 2024

The result of the move request was: not moved. The participants' arguments indicate the need for an article titled History of Bangladesh, covering its ancient origins to the post-independence era. Since the subject is broad, additional articles, such as History of East Pakistan and History of Bangladesh (1971–present), are also necessary. History of Bangladesh (1971–present)History of Bangladesh – both pages are showing the same timeline, (History of Bangladesh starts from 1971, but History of Bangladesh (1971–present) page is copied from this page). also see this copy paste discussion Bongan® →TalkToMe← 17:49, 30 November 2024 (UTC) — Relisting. '''[[User:CanonNi]]''' (talkcontribs) 11:48, 8 December 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Disagree although Bangladesh's history starts from 1971 (because it got independence in 1971), history-related article show pre-independence history of the land. History of Bangladesh shows its history from ancient period, same as History of India and History of Pakistan. We need to know that we have also History of India (1947–present) and History of Pakistan (1947–present). So History of Bangladesh is not showing the same timeline as History of Bangladesh (1971–present). It is true that its content is copied, but that does not mean we have to just change the name. There is space to rewrite the article.
Also the requested move is problematic. Because if we move History of Bangladesh (1971–present) to History of Bangladesh then what about History of Bangladesh? It is clear that both are not the same article and History of Bangladesh has more content than History of Bangladesh (1971–present). The proposal doesn’t make sense and a merge proposal would be more sensible. In this case, I suggest to close this move discussion and then create a merge proposal. Disagree other countries also have similar pages, as @Bongan & @Mehedi Abedin. I prefer rewriting the History of Bangladesh article. Ahammed Saad (talk) 12:31, 20 December 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Comment Which countries give some examples? @Ahammed Saad, Just imagine: South Korea has two history pages: 1. History of South Korea and 2. History of South Korea (1948-Present). Full confusion and misleading for the new generation. Merge is the only solution. Bongan® →TalkToMe← 12:50, 20 December 2024 (UTC)[reply]
If this article be merged, the bigger question will be arised on the History of East Pakistan article. keep this article & let's rename that article History of Bangladesh (1947–1971). History of Bangladesh will carry summeries of both articles only, not anything else.
Besides, since the partition in 1947, there had been two independent phases in the history of Bangladesh. Both undoubtedly require seperate articles. It's not similar with South Korea. Comparison of both doesn't make any sense. Ahammed Saad (talk) 13:02, 20 December 2024 (UTC)[reply]
@Bongan@Mehedi Abedin I have started a discussion on moving History of East Pakistan to History of Bangladesh (1947–1971). You are invited to join. Ahammed Saad (talk) 13:05, 20 December 2024 (UTC)[reply]
