With reference to Hope Valley, I'd like to suggest replacing "look towards" with something more neutral. My view, as a resident, is that there is little interest among the locals in either Sheffield or Manchester, other than as sources of services. The geographical barriers may matter less now than formerly, but the cultural and social differences are still profound.

This has now be done, so I'll clear this discussion if there are no objections to the change in the next month or so.--ARAJ 12:26, 22 January 2007 (UTC)[reply]

There's no need to clear the discussion; it's usual to keep it in place, in case it proves useful to refer to in future. Warofdreams talk 00:23, 23 January 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Do you agree with a proposal to merge this article with High Peak Borough Council?

I think that they should be merged because most other metropolitan and non-metropolitan districts in the United Kingdom just have one article to cover both the council and the area, see Derbyshire Dales or Metropolitan Borough of Tameside for examples of neighboring districts.

Information from High Peak Borough Council would be required to be merged into this article if a merger was to go ahead as both articles overlap but much information does not feature on both

I think that the High Peak (another name for the Dark Peak of the Peak District) is different enough from the civic administration area to merit two separate pages.

High Peak, DerbyshireBorough of High Peak – DAB from High Peak (upland) per WP:UKDISTRICTS as this appears to be split from that article. "High Peak District" is also a common way to refer to the district. Crouch, Swale (talk) 10:27, 5 August 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Maps

[edit]

As someone who explored these areas when I lived in Sheffield 50 to 60 years ago, I find the maps in this article to be pretty useless. I now live in Australia. Can someone find some better maps? --Bduke (talk) 10:32, 1 September 2021 (UTC)[reply]
