Requested move 27 October 2021

[edit]
The following is a closed discussion of a requested move. Please do not modify it. Subsequent comments should be made in a new section on the talk page. Editors desiring to contest the closing decision should consider a move review after discussing it on the closer's talk page. No further edits should be made to this discussion.

The result of the move request was: procedural close. The consensus of the discussion is that both the articles are about the same person, with "Hideya Suzuki" a redirect to the band of which the subject is a member of. The consensus of the discussion is leaning towards the merger of BLP into the band's article, which is out of scope for this RM. Regarding the move discussion: the result is no consensus. Another discussion for merger is advised. Regards, —usernamekiran • sign the guestbook(talk) 09:40, 21 November 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Hideya Suzuki (musician)Hideya Suzuki – Because there doesn't seem to be another famous person with the same name, so the "(musician)" part isn't needed. BrightOrion | talk 00:45, 27 October 2021 (UTC) — Relisting. Spekkios (talk) 01:00, 5 November 2021 (UTC)[reply]

It's an attitude thing you have, but what's with the exclamation mark? Don't you ever make mistakes?BrightOrion | talk 16:18, 27 October 2021 (UTC)[reply]
Of course. But it seems weird that you created a page with a disambiguator. That means you'd already seen the page without the disambiguator! Why didn't you just edit that one if you wanted to expand it into an article? -- Necrothesp (talk) 09:25, 28 October 2021 (UTC)[reply]
Mr.Children is a huge band in Japan (and other parts of Asia), a bit like the Beatles in the West. So I would say on that basis, it is necessary.BrightOrion | talk 16:13, 27 October 2021 (UTC)[reply]
Right, but the individual notability of Hideya Suzuki is what we're discussing. 162 etc. (talk) 16:39, 27 October 2021 (UTC)[reply]
I see your point, but don't you think being in a huge band gives him individual notability?BrightOrion | talk 16:43, 27 October 2021 (UTC)[reply]
  • Oppose and Merge the musician into the main article for Mr. Children - it seems he is exclusively notable as such, and his article is such a stub, if there is no one planning on improving on it, it is best served by merging into the main article, and it could always be split out at a later point -- and then, hopefully, be just directly edited on to the Hideya Suzuki page itself, avoiding the need for a technical move. TiggerJay(talk) 20:41, 27 October 2021 (UTC)[reply]
He does have his own page in the Japanese and Spanish versions of Wikipedia though.BrightOrion | talk 21:55, 27 October 2021 (UTC)[reply]
Yes, good point! But as you can see, those other sites have a far more content, which is why I stated "if there is no one planning on improving on it"... If you want to improve it so that it goes beyond a stub, then I would support keeping it -- but as it currently is there is very, very little content, and no real reason to keep it as a standalone article. Someone looking at Mr. Children who click onto this article would receive very little information of value. TiggerJay(talk) 23:40, 27 October 2021 (UTC)[reply]
I will definitely expand it. Please bear in mind that it has only just been created as an article, and so it may well be added to over time.BrightOrion | talk 06:52, 28 October 2021 (UTC)[reply]
Merge the page history of this identifier with the redirect makes better sense than moving, per TiggerJay's non-stuck comment. Iggy (Swan) (Contribs) 21:15, 30 October 2021 (UTC)[reply]
