Should the article name be changed to Hide the Pain Harold?
[edit]Mr. Arató is better known as Hide the Pain Harold, and changing the name would make it easier to find the article. CreeperWert (talk) 20:03, 3 March 2020 (UTC)
This page make a redirect from Hide The Pain Harold. Also, I don't think Wikipedia allows that (I'm new.).

Birth date
[edit]I have changed his date of birth from 11 July to 22 May per this article, which was published on 22 May 2018 and says "today is Arató's 72nd birthday", although I'm not sure if that was the same day the interview was conducted. HapHaxion (talk / contribs) 23:13, 4 September 2020 (UTC)
TEDx Talk
[edit]He also did a TEDx talk, see https://www.ted.com/talks/andras_arato_how_the_internet_made_me_into_a_meme Maybe we could add it to the article? — Preceding unsigned comment added by 2001:1715:4E2A:9331:E7E1:8B25:72F3:6BC9 (talk) 20:21, 6 February 2021 (UTC)

Requested move 30 June 2022
[edit]- The following is a closed discussion of a requested move. Please do not modify it. Subsequent comments should be made in a new section on the talk page. Editors desiring to contest the closing decision should consider a move review after discussing it on the closer's talk page. No further edits should be made to this discussion.
The result of the move request was: moved. Per it being his most common name and reflecting what the subject is notable for. (closed by non-admin page mover) — Ceso femmuin mbolgaig mbung, mellohi! (投稿) 18:01, 15 July 2022 (UTC)
András Arató → Hide the Pain Harold – Hide the Pain Harold is a way more WP:COMMONNAME than his birth name. The source do more commonly refer to him under that name. PhotographyEdits (talk) 13:36, 30 June 2022 (UTC) — Relisting. Extraordinary Writ (talk) 18:10, 7 July 2022 (UTC)
- I oppose this, as the article is about the man, not the meme. If it were entirely about the meme, then sure -- but it's got lots of biographical information about the man, about things he's said and done, et cetera. jp×g 04:46, 4 July 2022 (UTC)
- Support. The meme is what is notable here. BD2412 T 18:28, 14 July 2022 (UTC)
Is File:Hide the Pain Harold (András Arató).jpg fair use?
[edit]JJMC89 tagged my upload under WP:CSD § F7. I disputed this tag the next day. Having seen no reply from him, I'd like to explain my reasoning further and invite more editors to contribute to the discussion. Per the move of the 30th of June 2022 (proposed by @PhotographyEdits, supported by @BD2412, opposed by @JPxG, closed by @Mellohi!), it is my understanding that this article is about the meme Hide the Pain Harold, and not the person András Arató. Therefore, under this reasoning, the meme itself is per se a unique, historical, irreproducible image. Even if Arató himself were to take that photo again with same expression and pose, making everything exactly the same is impossible, and so, it is fair use, even though Arató is not deceased. - I would agree that the image of the original meme is fair use for an article on the meme being discussed, no less than File:Flower Power by Bernie Boston.jpg or File:Alan Kurdi lifeless body.jpg. BD2412 T 14:23, 27 April 2023 (UTC)
- @Psiĥedelisto I agree with your reasoning. The picture should be kept. PhotographyEdits (talk) 16:41, 27 April 2023 (UTC)
- No comment on whether the file should be kept only to say the fair use and non-free use aren't the same in that Wikipedia's policy has been intentionally made more restrictive than fair use; so, try not to mix up the two terms because they aren't the same when it comes to Wikipedia policy. I also suggest any discussion about the file be made on its talk page because that's where the administrator who reviews the deletion tagging is going to be checking. Please also keep in mind WP:OTHERIMAGE and WP:CANVAS when discussing the file's non-free use or seeking input from others. -- Marchjuly (talk) 22:02, 27 April 2023 (UTC)
scope
[edit]As the article is named after the meme, going into so many details about the person seems off-topic. If the person was the topic of so much coverage, shouldn't we split off the biography into a separate article under his name? --Joy (talk) 16:48, 23 October 2024 (UTC)
- The meme certainly is notable, but I don't think the person is notable separate from the meme. So creating such an article might violate WP:INHERITED. PhotographyEdits (talk) 17:15, 23 October 2024 (UTC)
- Well, the article does say he
became the advertising face for Coca-Cola in Hungary
five years ago, and entered into a national Masked Singer competition four years ago. That sounds like he became a minor celebrity. Because of the meme, sure, but one nonetheless. --Joy (talk) 05:27, 28 October 2024 (UTC)
