Unreferenced

[edit]

Hi Joe Roe. I believe the works listed in this article should be placed under "Selected works" not "Bibliography". They don't serve to confirm anything listed in the lede or body; they are history books written by the subject, not autobiographies. As such, I believe that means that the page is unreferenced, as even the books don't have links to OCLC or anything similar. Curious on your thoughts here, open to suggestions. Edit to add, this appears to be a moot point now; looks like another editor has added a source. Sorry to waste your time. ThaesOfereode (talk) 13:25, 21 November 2024 (UTC)[reply]
@ThaesOfereode: Please read the text of the template you are adding carefully: it is only for articles that [do] not cite any sources. It does not say "this article does not cite sources written by someone other than the subject" (that's what {{third-party}} is for) or "the sources cited in this article don't fully verify the contents" (that's what {{more citations needed}} is for) or "the citations in this article don't have any links" (that's not a requirement; not all sources are online). And unless you've checked the books listed, I don't see how you can know that they don't serve to confirm anything listed in the lede or body – it is not uncommon for books to contain autobiographical information about the author. At the very list, these citations verify that a) the subject existed and that b) he wrote those books. – Joe (talk) 13:34, 21 November 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Fair enough. I'll think more carefully about using this tag in the future. ThaesOfereode (talk) 13:42, 21 November 2024 (UTC)[reply]
