Memorial Bas relief?

[edit]

There is a building, which might have been part of the Police College (but have been been something else entirely), still standing on Aerodrome Rd; it has a large bas relief panel on its façade, facing the road, which appears to memorialize the aerodrome. It depicts patterns of tyre tracks - perhaps taken from the runways - and panels cast from engine parts, wheels and other mechanisms. There is no artist’s name or signature that I can see, nor is there a plaque to explain its presence, but it does seem to be in commemoration of the area’s heritage. As the whole area is being re-developed it might not last long, so I thought it worth mentioning now. Does anyone know who it is by, when it was installed, and what its connection to the aerodrome might be? Jock123 (talk) 13:06, 14 June 2017 (UTC)[reply]

Coordinate error

You haven't said what is wrong with the coordinates in the article. I've tweaked them a bit to correspond more closely with the center of the aerodrome's runway system, but if you still think that there is an error, you'll need to provide a clear explanation of what it is. Closure reasons?

[edit]

Can you tell me the reasons why this airport closed? Clrichey (talk) 03:07, 14 September 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Explained in the article. See "The end of aviation at Hendon" section. GrindtXX (talk) 11:13, 14 September 2022 (UTC)[reply]
