Fire

[edit]

Fire was released as a promotional single. 188.109.161.47 (talk) 08:38, 30 July 2013 (UTC)[reply]

It is not up for retail sale so it is not a single. STATic message me! 16:20, 30 July 2013 (UTC)[reply]
Comparison iTunes...Both from this album.

Beware (feat. Lil Wayne & Jhene Aiko) - Single @ https://itunes.apple.com/us/album/beware-feat.-lil-wayne-jhene/id664897460?i=664897691
vs. Fire @ https://itunes.apple.com/us/album/hall-of-fame/id686222727 just an early sale of an album track.—Iknow23 (talk) 17:24, 20 August 2013 (UTC)[reply]

You do not get it, if it was just made available in the pre-order on iTunes and not released to Amazon too, then it would not be a single at all. But the fact that it was released there makes it one. We should use the August 13, 2013, in order to use the first official date it was made available for retail purchase as the norm. I would be happy to provide sources on what day the pre-order went up if you do not believe me. STATic message me! 17:54, 20 August 2013 (UTC)[reply]
The iTunes source does not call "Fire" a single, but it does "Beware". It is not personal about believing you or not, it is about WP:BURDEN.—Iknow23 (talk) 18:00, 20 August 2013 (UTC)[reply]
[1] There is a official source for the label that the album was released for pre-order on August 13, which means that is the first day "Fire" was available for retail sale making that its release date. And if you want to argue that the song was not released the same day, we have the artist himself saying the song was released the same day. STATic message me! 18:08, 20 August 2013 (UTC)[reply]
It's all really about pre-order of the Album and not really that "Fire" is a 'single'. Btw, Sean's tweet is dated Aug 11, 2013, stating "1 more day!" which (in his words) then would = Aug 12, 2013. Amazon actually calls it a "single" which is probably why it was there to source that distinction.—Iknow23 (talk) 18:21, 20 August 2013 (UTC)[reply]
I don't know if they still do it, but iTunes has/had a 'Countdown to Album release' program in which they just stripped a song (album track) every Friday from an upcoming album for pre-sale. These are not actual singles. ALL songs can be purchased as an Album track, they don't have to be 'singles'. The fact that they are ONLY AVIALABLE FROM THE ALBUM'S TRACK LISTING page shows that they are Album tracks. The 'singles' have their own page and are called a "single" and show their own release date (not just being part of an Album).—Iknow23 (talk) 18:30, 20 August 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Kids, this source should tell you all you need to know. Koala15 (talk) 18:33, 20 August 2013 (UTC)[reply]
