Sexual term

[edit]

Until we can get a citation for this, perhaps we can just store the content off the main page:

Sexual Term - A "half and half" describes a sexual encounter, typically with a prostitute, during which half the encounter is spent having vaginal intercourse, and the other half is spent having oral sex.[citation needed]

-The Gomm 21:45, 25 September 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Riiiight, because all the rest of the content is so well supported by references. -- Rogerborg 12:06, 2 October 2006 (UTC)[reply]
True, but this is a food stub page, so perhaps we need a disambiguation for food, beverage, & sex. -The Gomm 16:31, 2 October 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Dairy Product

[edit]

So what does the name half and half refer to? Half milk, half cream? Y23 (talk) 01:47, 13 September 2008 (UTC)[reply]

It says it's "low calorie" without any further info. It also says it's "more stable in coffee." More stable than WHAT? No citations. Typical sloppy wiki entry. 139.68.134.1 (talk) 19:49, 14 November 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Half and half dairy product is repeated, with mentions under both the nonalcoholic beverages section and the Dairy Products section. The former appears more complete since it acknowledges both US and Canada, and the latter should be consolidated into it. --RealGrouchy (talk) 16:29, 2 January 2016 (UTC) RealGrouchy (talk) 16:29, 2 January 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Chips?

[edit]

In the article, it says that as a curry ingredient, half and half refers to half rice, half chips, and wikilinks to the "chip" disambiguation page. I was going to fix the link, but I'm not sure if it refers to the British English meaning (American "French fries") or to the American definition (British "crips"). Does anyone know which one this refers to? I can't find it.–DroEsperanto 23:10, 13 January 2007 (UTC)[reply]

It's the British meaning of chips, it's also used in East London though isn't common. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 81.179.66.72 (talk) 18:08, 29 February 2008 (UTC)[reply]
The current article says "Half and half, in Britain, is commonly understood to be a bed of half chips and half rice" but the citation given describes this as "the uniquely South Walian tradition of accompanying any curry with both chips and rice, known to thousands as “half and half”." Personally as someone who has lived all their life in and around London I have never heard of this before and I think the claim that this is the commonly understood meaning in Britain should be removed unless a citation can be found to reflect this.Anonymous watcher (talk) 00:10, 23 November 2011 (UTC)[reply]

I don't know how widespread this is, but where I grew up (Northern California) we called soft serve ice cream that was half chocolate-half vanilla "half and half." I think people in the rest of the country call this type of soft serve "twist" or "swirl."

This article sucks. Dairy half and half deserves its own page because it is an essential food item of the United States. There really ought to be a disambiguation page linking to individual articles for each "half and half" item mentioned here. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 70.166.34.181 (talk) 09:07, 16 March 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Agreed, once again Wiki has confused what should be a simple definition - it is doubtful that any large number of people in the U.S. refer to anything but half-milk and half-cream as half and half. Wiki should be diambiguated into U.S. Wiki and U.K. Wiki. Then perhaps, individuals from either country could get this half-baked information at least with the right spellings, etc. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 69.243.164.201 (talk) 13:09, 29 December 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Fair use rationale for Image:HalfAndHalf.jpg

[edit]

Image:HalfAndHalf.jpg is being used on this article. I notice the image page specifies that the image is being used under fair use but there is no explanation or rationale as to why its use in this Wikipedia article constitutes fair use. In addition to the boilerplate fair use template, you must also write out on the image description page a specific explanation or rationale for why using this image in each article is consistent with fair use.

Please go to the image description page and edit it to include a fair use rationale. Using one of the templates at Wikipedia:Fair use rationale guideline is an easy way to ensure that your image is in compliance with Wikipedia policy, but remember that you must complete the template. Do not simply insert a blank template on an image page.

If there is other fair use media, consider checking that you have specified the fair use rationale on the other images used on this page. Note that any fair use images lacking such an explanation can be deleted one week after being tagged, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you.

Half & Half Soda

[edit]

I've revised the section on Half & Half soda. This flavor is not particular to Polar, though it is perhaps not very common. Hosmer makes this flavor as well, and I've also had it from other brands in the past.--Ericjs (talk) 05:08, 6 May 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Fat in half and half (US)

[edit]

The article says that half and half has 12.5 butterfat content, but today I purchased a carton of half and half with zero fat. Can someone knowledgable about this area explain this? 67.100.125.31 (talk) 20:49, 1 August 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Darigold [[1]] has the ingredients for its non-fat half and half product:

  • Fat Free Milk
  • Milk[1]
  • Corn Syrup
  • Artificial Color[2]
  • Sodium Citrate
  • Potassium Phosphate
  • Mono and Diglycerides
  • Carrageenan
  • Vitamin A Palmitate

[1] Adds an insignificant amount of fat. [2] Not found in regular half and half. Gluten Free

I am surprised that they are allowed to market this as "Half and half" and not as "Imitation Half and Half" or some such.... --Macrakis (talk) 14:54, 2 August 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Tobacco

[edit]

I am new to editing and don't know how to cite a reference, but here is the cite for the Half and Half Tobacco company. http://www.st-group.com/ 67.185.241.88 (talk) 22:03, 24 July 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Ale version

[edit]

"/* Ireland, England and North America */ - guinness draught and harp lager"

Hardly ever see Harp lager in a pub, let alone know of it being particularly what is used in a half and half. I suspect half and half really means stout and lager. That's would I'd expect if I ordered it, I'd also expect the bar staff to ask which lager I prefer, and which stout if they have more than just Gwinnis. Or more likely they'd look at me and say " a doh what and a what half ?".

Whilst that's original research, the article is sadly lacking in citations, and that bit seems very specific to one company's product lines. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 2.125.207.92 (talk) 01:32, 9 January 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Medio y medio

[edit]

Surprisingly, (uruguayan) medio y medio is almost the same as belgian half and half, difference if any is that wine is any sweet whine then not only white but never dry, also espumante is used besides champagne, should i write this down on the article? --Neurorebel (talk) 22:20, 3 March 2017 (UTC)[reply]

This is a disambiguation page

Wikipedia articles should be about concepts, not about words or sentences. 2800:300:6331:7930:0:0:0:3 (talk) 22:06, 18 January 2023 (UTC)[reply]

I second this. There's little consistency. See the approach used, for example, for chips: https://wiki.riteme.site/wiki/Chips Timtranslates (talk) 05:15, 27 December 2024 (UTC)[reply]
