Barcodes

[edit]

If you're doing what I think you're doing I strongly advise against it, wikipedia is not the right place for a comprehensive database of barcodes, for more information about what wikipedia is not, see WP:NOT. I'm however not ruling out the existence of a barcode wiki somewhere, you just need to find it :)

Alternatively, you could set one up at Wikicities -Obli (Talk)? 21:23, 31 March 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks for spotting my mistake, usually I make the mistake of letting a spellchecker proofread my texts :) Anyway, WP:NOT remains, compare it with the undertaking of creating an article for every phone number there is. Sure, it *is* information, but you wouldn't want it to bog up an encyclopedia. I've pasted a link to this talk page on the IRC channel, an admin or two should chime by to give you their opinions any moment now.
Still, I think it's a cool idea and a wiki would certainly fit that purpose, it'd have to be a wiki dedicated to barcodes in that case... -Obli (Talk)? 22:07, 31 March 2006 (UTC)[reply]

NOBODY is interested. So much for saving the planet today.

So, today ... I requested it in WIKIA visit me there

Orphaned fair use image (Image:Astronomical Pocket Diary.jpg)

[edit]

Thanks for uploading Image:Astronomical Pocket Diary.jpg. The image description page currently specifies that the image is non-free and may only be used on Wikipedia under a claim of fair use. However, the image is currently orphaned, meaning that it is not used in any articles on Wikipedia. If the image was previously in an article, please go to the article and see why it was removed. You may add it back if you think that that will be useful. However, please note that images for which a replacement could be created are not acceptable under fair use (see our fair use policy).

If you have uploaded other unlicensed media, please check whether they're used in any articles or not. You can find a list of 'image' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "Image" from the dropdown box. Note that any fair use images not used in any articles will be deleted after seven days, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. Thank you. Possibly unfree Image:Sex-magazines--www.y23.com--n20080428 n20050306 015806.JPG

[edit]

An image that you uploaded or altered, Image:Sex-magazines--www.y23.com--n20080428 n20050306 015806.JPG, has been listed at Wikipedia:Possibly unfree images because its copyright status is unclear or disputed. If the image's copyright status cannot be verified, it may be deleted. You may find more information on the image description page. You are welcome to add comments to its entry at the discussion if you are interested in it not being deleted. Thank you. Rossrs (talk) 15:20, 18 July 2008 (UTC)[reply]

HI! amazing how MY PHOTO of magazines in a news-stand can be violating any copyright. If this logic was to be given credence any photo that shows an advertising billboard or a person wearing an image-t-shirt would be illegal. Clearly this is paranoid. But thanks for your elaborate reasoning... Y23 (talk) 17:26, 1 August 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Speedy deletion of "Continental News"

[edit]

A page you created, Continental News, has been tagged for deletion, as it meets one or more of the criteria for speedy deletion; specifically, it is about a band or other musical group, but it does not indicate how they are important or significant, and thus why they should be included in an encyclopedia. Please see the guidelines for what is generally accepted as notable, and the guidelines for musical groups in particular.

You are welcome to contribute content which complies with our content policies and any applicable inclusion guidelines. However, please do not simply re-create the page with the same content. You may also wish to read our introduction to editing and guide to writing your first article.

Thank you. Sceptre (talk) 15:28, 26 August 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Hi Y23, I want to check if you've read WP:LINKSPAM. Wikipedia uses nofollow tags, external links do not alter search engine rankings. XLerate (talk) 22:51, 26 January 2009 (UTC)[reply]

I replied to your comment on my talk page. XLerate (talk) 04:55, 27 January 2009 (UTC)[reply]
yep.. you are right. Wikipedia is very strict about links to outside websites. I understand the rules now, I think. Y23 (talk) 03:04, 31 January 2009 (UTC)[reply]

The link to www-2.net appears on that file page (File:Sex-magazines--www.y23.com--n20080428_n20050306_015806.JPG). XLerate (talk) 11:45, 14 March 2009 (UTC)[reply]

A tag has been placed on File:Www.y23.com pics 200106 Auckland to Europe 2---lg pan18h30.JPG, requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section G11 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the page seems to be unambiguous advertising which only promotes a company, product, group, service or person and would need to be fundamentally rewritten in order to become an encyclopedia article. Please read the guidelines on spam as well as Wikipedia:FAQ/Business for more information.

If you think that this notice was placed here in error, you may contest the deletion by adding {{hangon}} to the top of the page that has been nominated for deletion (just below the existing speedy deletion or "db" tag), coupled with adding a note on the talk page explaining your position, but be aware that once tagged for speedy deletion, if the page meets the criterion it may be deleted without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag yourself, but don't hesitate to add information to the page that would render it more in conformance with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. Lastly, please note that if the page does get deleted, you can contact one of these admins to request that they userfy the page or have a copy emailed to you. Spam

[edit]

Y23, I think that the inclusion of the www.y23.com url in your image file names is spam; it looks like most of your edits are about promoting your site. Furthermore, there's a lot of question about the copyright and license status of the images you've been uploading. The y23 site says who the owner is, but you don't appear to have identified this wiki account as that person. You should probably do at least that much, and put the name of the originator/copyright owner in the file info. Dicklyon (talk) 17:20, 17 May 2009 (UTC)[reply]

there's a lot of question ??? Like what? I took the pictures I own the copyright, I can name them so that people can find me, so what? I think your entry on my talk page is spam for yourself, too. We are all people. Some are busybodies. Y23 (talk) 16:49, 18 June 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Unreferenced BLPs

[edit]

Hello Y23! Thank you for your contributions. I am a bot alerting you that 1 of the articles that you created is tagged as an Unreferenced Biography of a Living Person. The biographies of living persons policy requires that all personal or potentially controversial information be sourced. In addition, to ensure verifiability, all biographies should be based on reliable sources. If you were to bring this article up to standards, it would greatly help us with the current 3 article backlog. Once the article is adequately referenced, please remove the {{unreferencedBLP}} tag. Here is the article:

  1. Wolfgang Gunnewig - Find sources: Google (books · news · scholar · free images · WP refs· FENS · JSTOR · TWL

The article Nervous Germans has been proposed for deletion because of the following concern:

Non-notable band that fails WP:BAND.

While all contributions to Wikipedia are appreciated, content or articles may be deleted for any of several reasons.

You may prevent the proposed deletion by removing the {{dated prod}} notice, but please explain why in your edit summary or on the article's talk page.

Please consider improving the article to address the issues raised. Removing {{dated prod}} will stop the proposed deletion process, but other deletion processes exist. The speedy deletion process can result in deletion without discussion, and articles for deletion allows discussion to reach consensus for deletion. Aspects (talk) 17:18, 24 June 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Disputed non-free use rationale for File:Nervous-Germans nervoesen deutschen y23.JPG

[edit]

Thank you for uploading File:Nervous-Germans nervoesen deutschen y23.JPG. However, there is a concern that the rationale provided for using this file on Wikipedia may not meet the criteria required by Wikipedia:Non-free content. This can be corrected by going to the file description page and adding or clarifying the reason why the file qualifies under this policy. Adding and completing one of the templates available from Wikipedia:Non-free use rationale guideline is an easy way to ensure that your file is in compliance with Wikipedia policy. Please be aware that a non-free use rationale is not the same as an image copyright tag; descriptions for files used under the non-free content policy require both a copyright tag and a non-free use rationale.

If it is determined that the file does not qualify under the non-free content policy, it might be deleted by an administrator within a few days in accordance with our criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions, please ask them at the media copyright questions page. Thank you. Aspects (talk) 19:10, 17 October 2010 (UTC)[reply]
