The result of the move request was: No consensus to move. Although I can see the potential confusion, as Mike Cline says, the hatnotes essentially assuage that. There's a little bit of WP:IAR in that argument, but the current scenario seems to work potentially better than any other, and there is no consensus that a move is required here. Half Moon Bay (California) → ? – I do not believe the current title is sufficiently disambiguated enough to avoid confusion with the article on the city at Half Moon Bay, California, but I must admit I'm not really sure of a good title for this one. Half Moon Bay (California bay)? Taylor Trescott - my talk + my edits 15:21, 3 March 2016 (UTC)
- Comment the same would apply to the other article, so the other article should be renamed as well -- 70.51.46.39 (talk) 05:44, 4 March 2016 (UTC)
- Why would the same need to be applied to the city article Half Moon Bay, California? That article is named that way using the comma-separated convention to not only comply with WP:NCDAB (because it is a geographic name) but also to comply with the WP:USPLACE guideline, where articles on populated places in the United States are normally titled [[Placename, State]]. "California bay" is not a U.S. state, and instead the USPLACE guideline would recommend something more like Half Moon Bay (city), California. Furthermore, there would be a question on whether there is a primary topic for the search phrase "Half Moon Bay, California" -- if there is one and that is the city, then that article should not be renamed. - Comment. The closest guidance I can find that gives specific examples on how to disambiguate bodies of water is WP:NCRIVER. It is specifically more about rivers and not bodies of water in general, but it may be useful here. Zzyzx11 (talk) 12:50, 4 March 2016 (UTC)
- Oppose - the article is correctly disambiguated. One only needs to look at Half Moon Bay (disambiguation) to see multiple articles with similar disambiguation. The hatnote on the article is serving its purpose. Ironically there are at least a dozen more Half Moon Bays around the world. They just don't have articles yet. --Mike Cline (talk) 15:20, 11 March 2016 (UTC)
