Preservation status
[edit]The introduction says that "The combined / joint parks are a protected wilderness area, heavily forested and largely left in its natural state . . ." Neither statement is true, and we need to say that. In fact, there is an effort underway with Maryland Environmental Trust to place a Forest Conservation Easement on the forested portion of the Park, and the Forest Management Plan created by Rec and Parks makes clear which sections of the forest are still in a “natural state” and which are not. The natural area of the Park deserves its own section that describes its unique qualities and why some consider it worth preserving.
Name of the Park
[edit]The park is universally known as Gwynns Falls/Leakin Park and that's what the title should say. I know--I don't like it either, but that's what it is. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Willcook3 (talk • contribs) 22:00, 27 December 2020 (UTC)
Crime
[edit]The entire section on Crime is basically trash. Why do we have to read about people having sex with dead corpses? I don't mind a section on crime as long as it is based on facts and is directly relevant to a visitor's experience in the Park. For example, if you look at actual crimes committed in the park, you will find that the homicide rate in the park is one of the lowest in the City, and there have been none at all in recent years.

- 100% agree as someone who grew up here (1994 -2012) the crime is highly overrated. Rarely do you see actual reporting on this area besides the "true crime" obsessed people. 2603:7000:9340:4900:416:D23C:C878:CEE (talk) 23:15, 13 March 2022 (UTC)
Revised section on Crime
[edit]I came across a good article on the subject by a Baltimore Sun reporter that was written in 1997, where he discusses the ongoing construction of Gwynns Falls Trail and the hope that the reputation of the park would improve as it saw more use by nearby residents. I am having someone look into the matter to try to get a handle on it.nI believe that the crime issue still needs to be addressed, but hopefully in a more factual and journalistic manner. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Willcook3 (talk • contribs) 17:04, 29 December 2020 (UTC)
