Songs added to soundtrack
Do NOT add songs to the soundtrack unless they are confirmed by a RELIABLE source. Sites in foreign languages/band sites are not credible. Remember to watch/revert these edits as soon as possible. Doshindude 04:35, 1 August 2007 (UTC)
- So I guess the Austin Chronicle isn't a "Reliable" source? Come on. It is neither a foreign language/band site. I would think that the source is reliable. Ultrabasurero 19:27, 1 August 2007 (UTC)
- Local newspapers aren't much better. If there's information on a song being in the game, don't you think it would have been released by a reputable video game publication/website or the company itself first? Y2kcrazyjoker4 18:00, 2 August 2007 (UTC)
A Wikipedia user thinks a newspaper is an unreliable source? Hahahahahaha!
How is Chistopher Vance not a reliable source. He works AT neversoft and showed the video to scorehero.com members and also scorehero is a reliable source aswell. There is no reason my link to the video should have been deleted.--Lumpy42 23:53, 7 August 2007 (UTC) Lumpy 42
- The video was already linked to on the page (it's the second reference after the song in the track list). We're accepting that it's legit, we just don't need it twice. --Masem 00:02, 8 August 2007 (UTC)
FYI - the original Black Magic Woman was by Santana. -- Tanuki_green 00:40, 13 September 2007 (UTC)
Okay - I was mistaken. Black Magic Woman was originally done by Fleetwood Mac, but gained notoriety from the Santana version. -- Tanuki green 23:45, 13 September 2007 (UTC)

<<<Freezepop>>>
Freezepop will not be appearing in GH3 as "Rock Band will feature the song "Brain Power" from their upcoming album Future Future Future Perfect." (http://www.gamespot.com/users/razielnk/show_blog_entry.php?topic_id=m-100-25125629&print=1)
- That really doesn't mean anything. It's completely possible for them to still be in GH3, it's just not very likely.DJKingpin 13:10, 22 September 2007 (UTC)
- Kasson Crooker is the artist behind Freezepop and is also Audio Director at Harmonix which is why their songs have appeared in several Harmonix titles. It is allways possible a song will appear but i agree it is doubtful DyloniusFunk 00:01, 24 September 2007 (UTC)
Les Paul for 360
It shows that the Gibson Les Paul for the 360 is black on a few advertisements. (http://www.gamestop.com/common/images/lbox/b200344ab.jpg) Can anyone get some more information and update the picture of the controllers as needed? Thanks. 76.116.109.221 07:18, 1 October 2007 (UTC)
- The guitar for the 360 and PS3 has a black face plate. The Wii guitar has a white faceplate.DJKingpin 11:29, 1 October 2007 (UTC)
- I have also seen "final" promotional materials that show the guitar as being black in all formats except the Wii. I nominate we remove the photo from the article that shows the white guitars and replace it with an accurate one. KyuzoGator 17:18, 18 October 2007 (UTC)
- Agreed, we should remove the picture as it is misleading. I thought that my 360 controller would be white but it is indeed black. If I can find my camera cord I'll take a pic of mine and upload it. Chipotlehero 00:33, 29 October 2007 (UTC)
Release Date
The Official release date is the 23rd of November this was from an official press release this morning :

On Play.com (UK), they have Guitar hero 3 available for pre-order, with the release date named as the 26th October. I guess this must be the European release date then... Amazon is listing the release date as February 23 2008 as opposed to October 29 2007. Is this reliable information that require the release date be changed? —Preceding unsigned comment added by 72.94.198.139 (talk • contribs)
- The only reliable date will be a press release from Activision or Red Octane or Neversoft. Store catalog data, even Amazon's can be off. --Masem 01:23, 12 August 2007 (UTC)
The game will ship out to businesses on the 19th of October, however it is not street-dated until the 28th of the same month. the european and denmark release dates have no source to back them up? most online retailers in the UK are listing different release dates. where is the confirmation that Nov 30 is the release date for Europe? (And why would Denmark be 1 week early...) —Preceding unsigned comment added by 62.105.170.190 (talk) 08:05, 5 October 2007 (UTC)
Well, I work at EBgames and my boss has me working october 19th and says this is the day it'll arrive, he also said that it is probable that we can sell them on the 28th. but obviously this can't be used as a realiable source, still, its good enough for me. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 149.99.79.111 (talk) 02:21, 14 October 2007 (UTC)
What is the official status of the PC version's release date? There is a conflict between major retailers (Best Buy and Amazon states a release alongside consoles, but Gamestop and WalMart state a mid November release). And there is no official word from Aspyr.Nick 16:44, 24 October 2007 (UTC)
Merge soundtrack
As with Guitar Hero II, the soundtrack list should get its own article, since the list is getting huge and taking up a large portion of the GHIII article. I created the new one and put a merge notice on the existing one. Doshindude 03:15, 3 August 2007 (UTC)
- since it's still a smaller list, wait until more songs are confirmed, and their levels of difficulty are confirmed. as it is, it would only be a stub article.
well guitar hero rock the 80's has a seperate page and its only 30 songs...Ganon228 16:24, 18 September 2007 (UTC)
- Rock the 80's has already been released. =David(talk)(contribs) 17:02, 18 September 2007 (UTC)
- Is it possible to reorganize the soundtrack by date added rather than alphabetical order? I think it would be more appropriate and easier to find out when new songs are added. Raykhenberg 00:42, 20 August 2007 (UTC)

Just be sure to leave an Edit Summary telling me EXACTLY what your did, or else I will see it as spam and most likely change it. Am I missing something? Where are the already confirmed Velvet Revolver tracks? Doesn't that prove this list is a fake? Frorunner9 19:00, 18 September 2007 (UTC)
You're right. Velvet Revolver has a CONFIRMED source listing a song of theirs, and yet it's not on this list. So either they took the song out, or the list is fake, but I'm strongly leaning towards the latter. Sorry to disappoint all you folks! —Preceding unsigned comment added by Gtrmu (talk • contribs) 18:24, 19 September 2007 (UTC)
- Not to be an argumentative git, but there's a precedent for that. I Want Candy disappeared from GH:80's, even though it was confirmed in the very first press release. I'm personally leaning towards fake due to the number of songs (less than the 360 version?) and the song positioning, though. It seems ... off. Daggoth | Talk 04:37, 20 September 2007 (UTC)
Good point. I still think it's fake though, until something official says it's true. Don't worry, you're not being an argumentative git. —Preceding unsigned comment added by Gtrmu (talk • contribs) 13:50, 20 September 2007 (UTC)
Ok, done with the list. As I said before, if theres something that needs fixing, a song that needs to be changed, deleted or added feel free to do so but remember to leave an Edit Summary telling me EXACTLY what your did. And the list is here User:Flamingtorch372/Sandbox. Flamingtorch372 21:01, 18 September 2007 (UTC)
I wouldn't necessarily hold this list to be 100% solid yet. A couple of issues are involved. First, "She Build Quick Machines" by Velvet Revolver has been confirmed for the game yet this list doesn't contain it, , as the user above states. Also, although "Becoming The Bull" hasn't been officially confirmed, it has been STRONGLY hinted that an Atreyu song will be in the game. Atreyu is also not listed. Just a couple of things to keep in mind when reviewing the above list. Tuck420 13:18, 25 September 2007 (UTC)
- In refute, the hinted Atreyu song may have actually been "Ex's and Oh's" in the GHII downloadable pack. I'm not saying that the list is completely correct, but (and I'm very sorry to say this) there may not be Atreyu in GHIII. (An Atreyu fan)The one and only:Zanny77 14:09, 28 September 2007 (UTC)

- You know, all of a sudden this list doesn't look too false, although the lack of Atreyu and a few other confirmed songs. There is a possibility the other song from Libetad and the Atreyu song maybe be in DLC.The one and only:Zanny77 14:07, 3 October 2007 (UTC)
I don't know why people keep reverting the songlist to the Sept. 24 version, but i'm pretty sure the songs added on October 3rd have been confirmed. If the songs have been confirmed, people should stop changing it back; it makes things confusing (Taylor975 01:31, 8 October 2007 (UTC))
- Basically because the songlist above is the same leaked song list that has circled the net but has no reliable source as to where it came from. It may be 100% accurate, but without verification we cannot include that list in the article, we can only include songs that have official confirmation. --MASEM 01:57, 8 October 2007 (UTC)
I'm betting it's fake, mainly because the order of songs seems off. Soe are in the exact places i expected them to be (One by Metallica i expected to be the Final Encore, though). Other track i think are in wrong places include Cult Of Personality. Somehow i doubt it'll be an Encore track, i was expecting it in the final setlist. An why is Rock and Roll All Nite in the FIRST setlist, srely that'd be held back till later? Tr1ckydr1v3r 12:50, 13 October 2007 (UTC)
This list is actually confirmed through multiple pictures, including the poster holding the les paul guitar, and the game and case, and pictures of the tracks. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 69.54.134.95 (talk) 19:35, 15 October 2007 (UTC)

Atreyu song in GH 2 pack tomorrow - maybe their page mistaken?
Atreyu will have a song (but not "Becoming the Bull") in a new DLC GH 2 pack to be released tomorrow (9-20). I wonder if they misunderstood which game their song would be used for (eg the one linked to as a reference for an Atreyu song in GH3), so just keep your eyes out for this. --Masem 18:51, 19 September 2007 (UTC)

- This has been answered many, many times. But I'll answer it yet again: Because under Wikipedia's policy on reliable sources, neither blogs nor MySpace pages are considered sources that can be cited in an article. It doesn't matter whose blog it is, or whose MySpace it is; those are specifically listed as not being acceptable sources. Rdfox 76 22:27, 19 September 2007 (UTC)

The fact that this is out there should at least be mentioned. I tried adding it, including an explanation that is still not confirmed, but it was abruptly taken off. Why can't the link be on the page even when explained that it's not confirmed? - User:MiTfan3 —Preceding signed but undated comment was added at 21:34, 20 September 2007 (UTC)
- Unlike news of songs and other information related to the game, which will stay up once the game is released, this is mostly a non-verifiable (and possibly incorrect), transient information that in about a month will be unnecessary. It's not really necessary to add to the article at this time. --Masem 21:51, 20 September 2007 (UTC)

Soundtrack bonus songs
The songs unlockable by using codes in the upcoming GH3 soundtrack sould not be listed under the official setlist, since they are bonus songs. Much like the bonus packages for GH2, they are only unlockable on the Xbox 360 version, and they are not on the official song list. miTfan3 —Preceding signed but undated comment was added at 02:28, 21 September 2007 (UTC)
- If it ships with the disc, I would consider it part of the official song list.... Y2kcrazyjoker4 04:52, 21 September 2007 (UTC)
- I think we need more details to make sure. If it were the case that the songs would only be in the 360 version because they would need to be downloaded, that would be a rather bad ding against any non-360 user. Yet... I can see that being the case if MS gets involved. It would make more sense that the code would be something you enter at the game to "unlock" the songs across all versions. We'll need more details to confirm this. --Masem 05:01, 21 September 2007 (UTC)
- Right. "Unlockable" doesn't necessarily mean that they're on the disk. You might still have to download them via Xbox Live. (Still, why wouldn't they do this with the PSN Network as well)? Skrutop 14:02, 21 September 2007 (UTC)
- If you read the Billboard article, it says "for Xbox Live users." Since Billboard is a reliable source then I think it's fair to assume that this is a confirmation. miTfan3 15:17, 21 September 2007
- I believe it would be a huge marketing error if this was only available for Xbox users (after pre-orders have already been started). Yes, Xbox users will get it, but I think all systems will have it at some point. --Masem 23:56, 21 September 2007 (UTC)
- Marketing error? Not at all. They know people will buy it anyway. The 360 had songs that the PS2 players never get to play, it's the exact same thing. Console exclusive songs are extremely possible and I for one am expecting them.DJKingpin 02:47, 22 September 2007 (UTC)
Not a marketing error at all. The 360 dominates the next gen market, and has the best online with its xbox live. It only makes sense they cater to it. The wii may have special gameplay traits with its wiimote being placed directly into the guitar. The wii and ps3 both have sketchy online. 207.210.18.71 03:20, 22 September 2007 (UTC)
Satan
apparently slash said that satan was the last boss ∆ Algonquin 10:02, 24 September 2007 (UTC)
- This has been rumored again and again, and the same question still isn't answered. Where is the verifiable evidence? Its right HERE: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zd_Xzjlr-uASkrutop 13:55, 24 September 2007 (UTC)
- First off, I realize that the first statement needs verification, and this isn't it. But according to the leaked setlist, the final boss' name is "Lou" which I assume will translate into something like "Lou C. Firr" or Lou Ciffer", invoking Lucifer (one of the many names of the devil). And it also plainly says devil, but still. Just thought I'd make that guess, although like I said until there's linked proof nothing like this should go on the page. 136.142.53.15 18:33, 24 September 2007 (UTC)
It would make sense. Since we know that once you beat Slash he becomes unlockable and the player plays Welcome To The Jungle with him, it would make sense that you would play The Devil Went Down To Georgia with Satan. It would also be a connection to Tenacious D since they licensed The Metal which is from the filmn and satan appears there. Now the only question is did they get full motion capture of Dave Grohl in the suit? :). I do wonder why they put fictional in quotes but i guess they wanted to avoid flak from religious types and maybe to add a bit of mystery. DyloniusFunk 21:40, 24 September 2007 (UTC)

Leaked List; Is It Right?

Read David's comment above. --Ouzo 21:42, 25 September 2007 (UTC)
Yeah, but some of it makes sense, like the Sex Pistol's song, plus it says that the final boss is 'Lou' the devil, and one of the venues is called 'Lou's Inferno.' It all just sorta makes sense.--ZacLOL 22:20, 25 September 2007 (UTC)
- Remember, it's always possible that the info on the Sex Pistols and Sonic Youth songs were leaked by official sources that somebody may have managed to get a hold of before we did. As for the final boss: everybody knows the venues by now, so all one would have to do is taylor the setlist titles to match. --24.59.155.203 09:34, 26 September 2007 (UTC)
- A group of songs were leaked accidentally a couple of weeks ago and are all included in the fake set list. Among them were the Sex Pistols song and the Sonic Youth song. As of yet, there is not one shred of evidence that the list real. DJKingpin 12:49, 26 September 2007 (UTC)
A few songs I question in particular. Slipknot & Disturbed both not only being in the same tier but in tier 7 seem ludicrous. Neither song sounds particularly challenging. Also, if you look up at the Full Songlist post above, after the song list one user mentions that several songs were seen being played by a MS employee, and both Sex Pistols & Sonic Youth were in that list. I think the fake tracklist was made of these, the already announced songs, and whatever the guy who did the list thought would be awesome (Slipknot, Disturbed, Killswitch Engage, etc). Also, as I mentioned above, "She Builds Quick Machines" has already been confirmed to be in the game, yet it is nowhere to be found on the list. --Tuck420 08:16, 26 September 2007 (UTC)
I agree with tuck. The songs just don't match up well. Black Sunshine by White Zombie is by far way, way to easy to be a sixth tier song. As is Cherub Rock. I should know, not only can I play those songs on real guitar but I have seen custom charts of both. Nuff' said. -- Rossoffle
- You should remember that there's one thing to sidetrack viewers from truth: there are no Velvet Revolver songs in the list, seeing as there were TWO songs of theirs announced, before any other - being that we never knew which was the other one. I just hope it's a bonus, or that Activision turns back and does not put the other song. I'd stick with She Builds Quick Machines only. 200.231.177.20 20:24, 2 October 2007 (UTC)

its in spanish, at the begenning of the slash battle your hear"Alice cooper, pearl jam, metallica, and AC/DC" http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=J96tzB1jhsA if this is true it means the leaked setlist is fake —Preceding unsigned comment added by Insaneingus (talk • contribs) 01:11, 28 September 2007 (UTC)
The leaked setlist is of the 70% completed Guitar Hero 3:Legends Of Rock, not from the 100% completed game, so they can have putted other songs on the list, rearrange the order of songs and many other things. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 189.30.214.191 (talk) 01:17, 28 September 2007 (UTC)
Doesn't matter! AC/DC is in the gameInsaneingus 01:20, 28 September 2007 (UTC)
Just as said, they could used the leaked setlist but putted other songs on it before the game completion, they could have putted songs like one by AC/DC, "She Builds Quick Machines" - Velvet Revolver(this is confirmed but not appeared in the leaked setlist, cause is from the 70% game build) and others... —Preceding unsigned comment added by 189.30.214.191 (talk) 01:48, 28 September 2007 (UTC)

- I'd wait for something a bit more concrete, or confirmation from elsewhere, before adding it. It's a foreign language voiceover. Daggoth | Talk 04:54, 28 September 2007 (UTC)
It goes far beyond a voice over... there is the actual note chart with the music in being played to it. Personally, I'd say that it is pretty concrete, but I don't understand Spanish so I wouldn't feel right by adding it to the list. Jovack 23:41, 28 September 2007 (UTC)
- Um, there is no AC/DC song or chart in the entire video. What are you talking about? —Preceding unsigned comment added by DJKingpin (talk • contribs) 23:51, 28 September 2007 (UTC)
- I've just been able to view it. Uh ... no. That's the old (E3?) trailer from a few months back with a spanish voiceover. The note chart looks like Slash's unique boss battle music ... there's a mostly full video of it on youtube somewhere if you want to compare. Daggoth | Talk 01:33, 29 September 2007 (UTC)
- In this interview http://www.gamespot.com/xbox360/puzzle/guitarheroiii/news.html?sid=6180442&tag=news;title at the bottom of it they discuss bands that are hard to get. They mention Metallica , AC/DC , Van halen , and Led zeppelin. They mention how they did get metallica and how they failed to get Van halen and Led zeppelin , no mention of failing with AC/DC. If they DID fail on AC/DC I think they would have mentioned it along with Led zeppelin and Van halen. Between the video and this I think its pretty solid evidence.

Atreyu?
Atreyu supposedly has "Becoming the bull" in GH3 , with "Exs and ohs" as GH3 DLC , with sources I could go find if need be , but um... why has atreyu been taken off this wiki page? The fact that atreyu has a DLC song in GH2 has nothing to do with inclusion in GH3

- The article is very vague on exactly what a "new version" of the song means. It could just be a poorly worded phrase that means the track used in GH3 is a cover. Skrutop 10:56, 2 October 2007 (UTC)

Lack of PS2 Guitar Support
Should this be in the main article? At this link - http://forum.guitarherogame.com/Default.aspx?g=posts&t=29097 - the following information is posted and it's from the official forums:
- 3. How is the functionality of the PS3 Les Paul wireless for the older Guitar Hero games (released on PS2)?
- Correction: The new PS3 Les Paul wireless controller will NOT work at all with any of the Playstation2 Guitar Hero titles when played :on the PS3. Velvet Revolver
I know that Velvet Revolver themselves said it, but I think that their supposed "second song" should be taken off the confirmed list. It seems to me that if Myspace pages aren't allowed as reputable sources even though it's the band saying it, the band saying it in an interview shouldn't be any different. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 141.211.173.111 (talk) 03:29, 4 October 2007 (UTC)

66 songs?
http://news.sky.com/skynews/article/0,,91221-1286921,00.html
It says that the total of songs confirmed so far is 66, instead of 61, listed in the wiki article. It also has songs that might not be on the wiki list. Take a look; this looks credible -- FishStik 20:42, 4 October 2007 (UTC)

Gamespot is credible... they are invited to the guitar hero press releases and events. But "tin-can robot axe man" is very ambiguous; there are less than 3 weeks to wait, so just wait and everything will be put up properly when the game is released. Jovack 08:18, 7 October 2007 (UTC)
Ok.It seems like such a long wait though, doesn't it?lol. Xdemonhunterx 13:09, 7 October 2007 (UTC) <agreed.
It could just be a bonus costume for an existing character, so the article shouldn't count it as a character of its own just yet. 216.255.6.61 14:59, 7 October 2007 (UTC)
It seems like they could be referring to Lars' Viking costume. It looks a bit tin-canish. Anyway, yeah, lets wait until we add that information. MB 22:09, 7 October 2007 (UTC)
Right, right. What I meant about the wait though was I was excited for it,not that I meant put it on because it is a long time away. But I have doubts about it being Lars because it says it had a guitar that looked like "a giant raygun".But yeah it could be another costume. Also did you see that other Johnny Napalm pic there? That loos like an awesome costume.Ok enough off-topic I think this ones done.24.144.142.77 00:39, 8 October 2007 (UTC)

I agree, and also the Canadian "release dates" point to Best Buy, which, judging from all the above comments, is not a reliable source. Dragonscales 21:59, 9 October 2007 (UTC)
It has been added again with EuroGamer as the source. Sorry Donkeydood15 (I saw your post on SH), although 23rd Nov may well be correct, you said yourself we still have not had official word. Unless they know something we don't (and I get all press releases from NS and RO), it's just another guess. Perhaps we can ask Eurogamer how they managed to get a release date without a press release to confirm it? Let's leave the comment on the Eurogamer article for now, but the flag has to go again unfortunately.
UPDATE: A source from pimpmywii.co.uk has been in touch with Activision for me, they have said that "There is no one set date for Europe - each territory has their own date." They have also warned against any release dates posted around the web, and asked us simply to "watch out for our press release". So there you have it. Lucothefish 07:48, 10 October 2007 (UTC)

..Uh guys, read the previous topic. As a regular gamer, this may seem like strong proof that these songs are in the game but as a WP editor, this does not count as a credible source. Demoman87 00:59, 16 October 2007 (UTC)
As a gamer, I would say Velvet Revolver will have a special DLC pack, a la MCR, along with another indie rock for Atreyu. As a Wiki monitor, this may be a special test version the developers have that is missing some songs that was leaked. And even if it wasn't, it doesn't matter. It's not offical, so stop trying to add it. Thank you. The one and only:Zanny77 01:07, 16 October 2007 (UTC)
i think it's hilarious that when slash says that a song or two by velvet revolver is in the game, it's posted here, but when a band like l.a. slum lords posts something on myspace saying the same thing, its suddenly not a credible source. what makes it better, is that its becoming more apparent that velvet revolver isn't in the game at all, while the l.a. slum lords song that came from a "non credible source" was in the photos of the song lists. Vancealmighty 22:44, 16 october 2007
- The difference is that Slash said it in an interview with a website that is considered a reliable source by Wikipedia standards; MySpace is specifically listed as NOT being a reliable source, because there's no way to confirm that the person claiming to be "LA Slum Lords" on MySpace actually is connected with the band in any way; it could just be a fan with far too much time on his hands. Rdfox 76 18:43, 16 October 2007 (UTC)

There is no Velvet Revolver in this game. Check www.gutarhero.com and see the tracklist. Nowhere in there does it say anything by them.

Confirmed Track List is Spiralling out of Control
"Guitar Hero III" – Slash ??? At least change it to "Guitar Battle vs Slash" - Slash Come on, there won't be a "guitar hero 3 intro song" in the game that is playable with a note chart
ANOTHER Velvet Revolver, when there was never really any credible evidence for the first song???
This CD says it has tracks from the game, but it doesn't say they are ALL from the game, and it doesn't say which may be DLC etc. Personally, I do not trust this CD as a credible source, and neither do I trust all this IGN, gamespot etc etc. Now that we are nearing the homestretch, they won't release any more info to the media about the game until it comes out. And if they do, it will be everything confirmed at once, on their website.
At least change "confirmed tracklist" to "speculated tracklist".
More evidence against Velvet Revolver's inclusion. http://www.circuitcity.com/ssm/Activision-Guitar-Hero-III-Wireless-Bundle-for-Xbox-360-047875951235/sem/rpsm/oid/187029/rpem/ccd/productDetail.do Even though it doesn't specifically state they are not in, they probably would have if they were since they were announced seemingly from the start. Well, not to, you know, attack you relentlessly, but didn't both Slash and Neversoft/RedOctane actually confirm that two of Velvet Revolver's songs would be included in Guitar Hero III? A Powerful Weakness 20:26, 16 October 2007 (UTC)A Powerful Weakness
No, no they didnt. There was a radio interview on 102.1 the edge where someone from VR stated there would be quick machines and possible A song or B song. Then they come out claiming slither is on it. Well maybe it is, my guess is it's in a download pack. There is no way 1 band (especially someone new like VR) gets 3 songs unless it is similar to what they did with MCR (make you buy it off marketplace). Jovack 03:27, 17 October 2007 (UTC)
Block on changing Soundtrack
Okay, things are getting out of hand. I have been monitoring this page for a month and have seen many people messing with it. It is getting to a point with the speculation of Velvet Revolver and the released pictures that I believe we should block editing of the soundtrack to all users besides the moderators of this page. I am not saying that access should just be given to me, although I would welcomely take that burden, I want to see the well-fare of this info, and is being changed too many times to be kept track of. Thank you. The one and only:Zanny77 14:11, 16 October 2007 (UTC)
How are the PhotoBucket pictures not credible?
They look real, and they are on a bad quality camera, so it would be noticeable if they were photo-shopped. I think the other songs (Like Dope) should be added to the confirmed setlist, but only when and if actual gameplay pictures are provided. ScrapWolf 14:54, 16 October 2007 (UTC)
So do I. As there actually is visual proof that Nothing For Me Here is in the Bonus Track list, we should probably add it. A Powerful Weakness 15:09, 16 October 2007 (UTC)A Powerful Weakness
I would, but adding it right now will prolly just get it deleted. Even though this is visual proof, others still think it a hoax. ScrapWolf 15:18, 16 October 2007 (UTC)
It doesn't matter if it looks real. Until it is credited by someone credible (the developers, a confirmed soundtrack, billboard), it is not to be added. And last I checked, a photobucket album doesn't count as credible. The one and only:Zanny77 16:38, 16 October 2007 (UTC)
People: Read Wikipedia's policy defining reliable sources. Learn from it. Follow it. It doesn't matter if people think the pictures are a hoax or not; they're not from a reliable, verifiable source, so they can't be used to support claims of fact. When a few songs were added because a photo of the back of the preorder box showed them as listed, that WAS a reliable source because it could be easily verified by going down to the local GameStop and looking at the box yourself. However, until people other than the person who posted the screenshots can verify their accuracy independently (say, by looking at the song list in a store display copy of the game), they aren't considered reliable. Rdfox 76 18:49, 16 October 2007 (UTC)
What happened to V. Revolver?
As She Builds Quick Machines by Velvet Revolver was in the official soundtrack for Guitar Hero III, and Slither by the same band recently was confirmed, I would appreciate to have some information about the whole fact that both songs were deleted from the songlist. A Powerful Weakness 20:27, 16 October 2007 (UTC)A Powerful Weakness
My take on it is they have 3 Velvet Revolver songs because it will be a downloadable pack off the net. Plus they are not even on the official website. She builds, (another song as said on 102.1 the edge), Slither
That to me right there sounds like something you will have to purchase off xbox live marketplace.
Also, look at the photobucket images. Officially, it is not credible. But stop the denial, we all know those images are legit. Count the songs, it ends at 73 total. 3 more VR songs = 76. They would've said the game includes over 75 songs if that was the case. There are a million solid reasons VR is not on the main list
check out guitarhero.com/gh3 ... click on tracks
not every track is revealed, but you can be she builds quick machines would have been on their already since it was "announced" a long time ago

Right, we've all seen this, and come the 28th there is a 99% chance this will be the list. But until Neversoft explicitly states that this is correct, it is "not credible"... their reasoning is someone could have spent 100s of hours in photoshop creating those images, or the game could change right up until the release date. Patience haha. Jovack 03:24, 17 October 2007 (UTC)

Well, the PB images and the rumours that has been circulating around the Internet for a long time now is enough to convince me, at least. But the real question is if Velvet Revolver, AC/DC and Atreyu's songs actually were converted to DLC for the 360, or if Neversoft and RedOctane just discarded the confirmations? Greatest odds are that Eddie Knox is not playable in the new game. The demo came out and in Multiplayer it shows the list of people with Eddie Knox missing. I didn't put it there, but I found the source for it, I think. [7] It states that it will be on the soundtrack to the game, along with Slither, and it states that the songs on the soundtrack are from the game. I'd say that's verifiable. Yes, I realize that it's MORE Velvet Revolver controversy, which can be discussed, but it should at least be enough for Prayer of the Refugee.--GanonMetroid 21:41, 17 October 2007 (UTC)

Pretty Vacant (Guitar Hero Version)?
This past Tuesday, iTunes added the Sex Pistols' album "Never Mind The Bollocks, Here's The Sex Pistols".
Along with that, they added the new rerecordings for Guitar Hero III: Legends of Rock.
There's two: "Anarchy in the UK[8]" and "Pretty Vacant[9]".
Now, we KNOW Anarchy is in GH3. But what's this? There's another one!
So what do we make of this? Possibly a DLC, possibly added last-minute (later than the 70% list).
Either way, does the link to iTunes confirm this song at all? Razer922 00:38, 18 October 2007 (UTC)

Did you even read what I wrote. "People who have 'seen' the game". There is a good chance this was taken straight from the most recent wikipedia. I'm pretty sure every single track was unlocked, but there is always the possibility that this one was the only one left. Count the songs they listed 62.. Coincidentally, same as wikipedia. Even though the official website is nowhere near that number. On a side note, I like the idea of Death Drain now. Every missed note = you lose more view. I used to think it would just come down at you regardless of what you do. Jovack 05:18, 19 October 2007 (UTC)
Jovack, the death drain DOES lower your rock meter regardless if you miss notes or not. Misinformed? How could they just randomly come up with that stuff? Nobody ever talks about that bowie song and nobody ever mentions danko jones... why would they false advertise? Also : that guy with the pics doesn't have the final version of the game obviously... theres been too many things confirmed that didn't show up on it (Atreyu , Velvet revolver , Hammerfall , Dope , David bowie , Danko jones , Blondie and then that spanish video that mentioned AC/DC.) how could they ACCIDENTLY and unintentionally tell their buyers the other 3? - The fact that the site is not a video game site and can easily give out information that is not completely accurate. The possibility that they didn't double check their facts, etc. The consensus is that the those songs aren't in the game. And why do you say that Ethaneeze can't possibly have the final build? The game was already in stockrooms last week, the same week that Ethaneeze posted the screens. Ultrabasurero 00:09, 20 October 2007 (UTC)
I say its not final for many reasons
1.His list is synonomous with the list that leaked from that convention in new york
2.Where the hell is Velvet revolver , Atreyu , Hammerfall , etc?
3.If I have my facts straight ... they kept some songs secret on GH2 until release date too —Preceding unsigned comment added by 24.144.112.197 (talk) 00:17, 20 October 2007 (UTC)
The convention in NY was September 27-30. Imacarrot from Scorehero played the full retail game on Sept. 2 well before the convention. To say that Ethaneeze doesn't have the full game is completely ridiculous since he only posted about it last week. Only the full game would come fully packaged with the case and manual. Preview builds don't even come with that. Velvet Revolver was never announced to be on the game by a reliable source, i.e. Activision press release. Slash said SBQM was in the game, but the with the current evidence, it is probably in a VR DLC pack along with Slither and one of the other songs Slash said. Since the full build was available on Sept. 2, why would an older build be released with the game box the same week that the game started showing up in stockrooms? If it is only showing up recently, it is going to be the final build. Do you really expect more songs to be in it? 48 main setlist plus 25 bonus songs is about right. If you're expecting more songs, you're going to be disappointed. Ultrabasurero 03:32, 20 October 2007 (UTC)
I would imagine that Master of Puppets is a typo. They meant to type One but screwed up. However, I don't know what the other songs are doing on there. It's a definite possibility that they are on the game. Stxbomber191 17:09, 20 October 2007 (UTC)
Carrot never said anything about Velvet Revolver, perhaps I missed it though, please link me to it. 207.210.20.190 17:35, 20 October 2007 (UTC)
It looks like One Way Or Another by Blondie is on the Guitar Hero III page in iTunes. That seems legit to me and should be added to the confirmed list of songs. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 63.64.196.115 (talk) 14:44, 23 October 2007 (UTC)
- It may end up being downloadable, but it's not on the game. The full setlist has been unofficially confirmed by several people. DJKingpin 15:39, 23 October 2007 (UTC)
Change to "Death Drain" attack in Sudden Death
In the IGN article that previews the PC version of GH3 (Y'know, the one that proves Slither is in the game), they note something about the Death Drain powerup:
"When neither player is forced to fail during the course of the song, the mode goes into sudden death where any completed star notes will then activate a grim reaper that will move down the fret board with each mistake made until it first blocks your view of the notes and eventually "kills" you."
This contradicts what we currently have under Death Drain.
Should we change the current desctiption to this? Razer922 20:48, 19 October 2007 (UTC)
I disagree that they PROOVE slither is in, because the list looks coincidentally ripped off wikipedia, but I do agree that we should change, or at least mention that death drain doesn't look correct.Jovack 12:22, 20 October 2007 (UTC)
It's actually a combo of what we have on the wiki and what you've said. it does all of the above and also drains your Rock Meter, so you are pretty much screwed if you screw up consistently. P.S> Jovack, wth are you talking about? Off topic. Tr1ckydr1v3r 19:04, 20 October 2007 (UTC)
NOTE: You are also screwed if you don't even have notes. SEE: Morello battle. you aren't even playing notes yet will fail even with rock meter in the green. also note that Morello does not even need to get a powerup to give you death drain, so if you have saved powerups yourself, they will be useless once you get to that point of the song. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 68.52.143.112 (talk) 02:17, 30 October 2007 (UTC)
Ya I played Battle today, and we got to sudden death. Death drain basically is like a constant negative influence on your rock meter. And its position on your fretboard is directly correlated to where your arrow is pointing on your rock meter. Full green, it's at the top. Centre yellow, it's in the middle, Almost dead, it's at the bottom. Making mistakes only accelerates the process of losing. Adding death drains also influences it (I think) Jovack 03:55, 21 October 2007 (UTC)
Final Tracklist (Not in order)
Joystiq.com confirmed the final list of tracks alongside giving out an mp3 of what the 'hard guitar' version of 'The Devil Went Down To Georgia': http://www.joystiq.com/2007/10/19/hear-gh3s-fiddle-free-version-of-the-devil-went-down-to-georgi/
Note: If you will look further down the list, you will see "She Builds Quick Machines - Velvet Revolver", so now we Officialy know Velvet Revolver will be in the game. Tr1ckydr1v3r 05:42, 20 October 2007 (UTC)

Slither is on the Soundtrack of the Companion Pack, so it will appear in the game(And not as a DLC, because if Slither is a DLC, they don't have used her in the Soundtrack, because some GH3 versions(like GH3 for PS2) don't have DLC to download and put on game! —Preceding unsigned comment added by 201.66.196.23 (talk) 06:16, 20 October 2007 (UTC)

Should Devil.... credit be changed?
It says Charlie Daniels Band but all evidence suggests that it's in fact going to be a metal cover. So what iw as wondering is if an asterix should be placed with a footnote explaning the dfiffernece. It might eb helpful to those who don't check the site everyday to see new song updates and see that the Charlie Daniels Band has a song in the game. Imagine thier surprise when they actually get the game :). In alol seriousness this would seem to be in the same vein that was done for "Higher Ground" in the GH1 article. Also i was wondering if the song should be bolded. It is a cover but if in fact is the metal version than it would be the master track of a cover. I won't do any of this till i get some feedback but the asterix part makes sense to me, not sure about the bolding right yet. DyloniusFunk 22:48, 20 October 2007 (UTC)
- Yeah, I was wondering about that too. Apparently, someone on Youtube said it was by a musician named Steve Ouimette. He has no wiki article but he has a myspace. However, it only says he has recorded 8 songs for Gh3 but it doesnt say anywhere he actually recorded "The Devil Went Down...", so I guess don't change it yet unless we know who the artist is exactly. In the mean time, we could put a note saying it's a different version of the song.Demoman87 01:16, 21 October 2007 (UTC)

Well, those are nice videos, just keep them out of the main article, k? TwilightWeapon 23:42, 20 October 2007 (UTC)
We should at least change TDWDTGs text. Its by Steve Ouimette not an unknown artist christ Insaneingus 02:09, 21 October 2007 (UTC)
I think a simple footnote or something is in order. In the vid, it specifically references The Charlie Daniels Band, not Steve Ouimette. However, the guitar is obviously not TCDB. Just put something "The Devil Went Down to Georgia - The Charlie Daniels Band" with a small symbol for a footnote that notes that the actual guitar is Steve Ouimette. As for whether or not to label it a MT or Cover is also hard to determine. Technically, it's a master recording of cover of TDWDTG, and it comes down to who is listed as the artist IMO: if you label it outright as TCDB it's a cover, but if you just put Steve Ouimette, it's a MT. Yeesh, adding little peices of info like this shouldn't be so complicated xD General Aranel 03:05, 21 October 2007 (UTC)
As good a job as Steve Ouimette has done with the song, the real credit must still go to Charlie Daniels for creating it. Steve definitely deserves an asterisk or something at the bottom since this cover is significantly altered from request by the game's main developers. Jovack 06:33, 21 October 2007 (UTC)
I think the credit should remain saying "Charlie Daniels Band" There has been NO confirmation that it's Steve Ouimette's version other than youtube videos *and we know those are not reliable sources on wikipedia.* And the article that reveals the song is listed as "As made famous by The Charlie Daniels Band* Much like You Really Got Me from the last game was listed as "As made famous by Van Halen* even though they didn't write it. And if you ask me, according to that source it's Charlie's version in the fame. I'm going to change it back, and if anyone has any problems with that, well find an article that directly says it's Steve Ouimette's version and NOT Charlie Daniels! But until we find out for sure, it should stay as Charlie Daniels. —Preceding unsigned comment added by Gtrmu (talk • contribs) 18:26, 23 October 2007 (UTC)
Robot Character
Is it me or does the 'robot character' everyone is talking about, look like a modified Xavier Stone? The lead designer said you can modify all of the characters and if you look closely at the 'robot character' and Xavier Stone's moves, they look the same almost. So i think the reference to the robot character should be removed until further confirmation. 71.7.106.244 18:25, 21 October 2007 (UTC)

The robot guitarist - Which I added to the character cast section, additionally - temporarily given the nickname "Metalhead" was discovered in pictures spread on several Guitar Hero forums. Of course - We ARE talking about reliable information sources here, but those pictures simply looks too real for anyone to claim that they are Photoshopped images. An Endless Sporadic - Impulse
Hey.
A Neversoft employee has announced a new song on Scorehero: An Endless Sporadic - Impulse.
Being that this is from a reliable source, I added it to the article. I figured I would let everyone know.

There is a video of this song being played on youtube.. I don't think any more evidence is needed. Jovack 20:37, 22 October 2007 (UTC)
True, but I've seen people saying "Since it's not officially from a Neversoft/Activision/RO employee, it isn't 100% official" or something similar. So I figure I'd include the other two links. TwilightWeapon 21:43, 22 October 2007 (UTC)

The demo is supposedly coming out tomorrow. http://xbox360.ign.com/articles/829/829088p1.html Stxbomber191 21:26, 22 October 2007 (UTC)
I think they may be talking about LIVE. The demo has been out with Tony Hawk Proving Ground, and also found on the internet to download in form of ISO --> burn to cd/dvd. Jovack 22:35, 22 October 2007 (UTC)
Using Youtube links for sources
As people appear to have their hands on the game early and have posted videos of play to Youtube, I see editors are trying to finalize the set list.
PLEASE don't do this yet. Yes, the information is valid and correct, but we cannot use Youtube as a source for verification. If you want to help, please make up the setlist in your own sandbox such that when a legitimate source reveals this (or when the game is released) then we can put it up. But even this close we must keep the article verified with reliable sources. --MASEM 23:05, 22 October 2007 (UTC)
Already at User:Flamingtorch372/Sandbox. Flamingtorch372 00:09, 23 October 2007 (UTC)
I understand following the rules of the site, but does anyone else see the ridiculousness of this? We have actual proof of information, but we can't use it because of a technicality. I'm not arguing for posting this right now, *because* the rules state otherwise...I'm just saying that maybe the rules should be changed a bit. DestradoZero 18:01, 23 October 2007 (UTC)
True, just because it is a rule, doesn't mean it's set in stone. Wikipedia should review this because youtube should be legit. Jovack 20:45, 23 October 2007 (UTC)
While we can assume good faith, youtube can have hoaxes, thus it is not entirely legitimate. Perhaps a guideline for information (5 different sources?) and then the information could be legitimized, but in its current state the info cannot be proved. Discgolfrules 21:00, 23 October 2007 (UTC)
um, have you seen the quality of the guitar hero 3 vids bing posted up? They suck. ANd no-one has cracked the thing yet so i can see no reason for saying the youtube vids are'non-credible-. Tr1ckydr1v3r 22:06, 23 October 2007 (UTC)

Weekend Party announced
Release date - Nov 23 JAF1970 23:54, 22 October 2007 (UTC)
Main Page Picture
Someone ruined the main page by changing the first photo. It is all pixelated and xbox360 specific. It used to be ubiquitous and good quality. Can someone change this back. Jovack 09:46, 23 October 2007 (UTC)
Yeah, and they didn't change the fair use media rationale either. They left it at all the info I had entered previously. Carlylemiii 12:18, 23 October 2007 (UTC) —Preceding unsigned comment added by 74.135.114.1 (talk)
- Can anyone find the previous one? Everywhere I look in the history page I only find this crappy upscaled picture. That poster-like picture looked way too much better. 200.231.177.3 12:34, 23 October 2007 (UTC)
- It was in the image history, and I have reverted it. However that image (900xsomething large) is inappropriate in size/resolution for a non-free fair use image. I have reuploaded it scaled down to 256px (infobox size) and the changes should be activated on the main page. --MASEM 13:37, 23 October 2007 (UTC)
Dividing the setlist in tiers
I can't see a reason anymore not to break down the setlist into the eight main tiers and the bonus songs stash. I think that, as all of the songs in this list are indeed in the leaked setlist, without any of them left out, someone might as well divide them properly, as it was done for the previous releases. And also, we're just half a week away from the release, so I don't see why would they change it so suddenly. 200.231.177.3 12:27, 23 October 2007 (UTC)
- There's no reliable source. I know that List of Guitar Hero III songs has been set up as tiers, and when the setlist is validated by 1) Oct 28th release date or 2) a more reliable source than youtube, we'll drop in the link to that to replace the soundtrack list as per the other GH game pages. --MASEM 13:39, 23 October 2007 (UTC)
- Ok, need input: I know that some Target stores have released the game early (more than just a few, apparently all Targets have it now). While it breaks street date, this would ( to me ) make the setlist w/ tiers and the like "official" as there is no doubt what music is in the game as people play/report it. EG the need to provide a source for the listing which is now uncontroversial has become unnecessary, though we can still provide a web source once a gaming news site reports it or it appears on the GH3 site. This would probably help with some of the high editing levels on this page as well. --MASEM 15:53, 23 October 2007 (UTC)
I just called my local Target, and they don't have it. Where did you find out that it was leaked early? —Preceding unsigned comment added by Gtrmu (talk • contribs) 18:50, 23 October 2007 (UTC)
- I've seen reports at various gaming sites with people having their copy (nothing for reliable sourcing). Check target.com as well. However, again, this is breaking street date. --MASEM 21:53, 23 October 2007 (UTC)
Someone got the GH III soundtrack??
Has someone bought the soundtrack?? I would like to know which songs does the CD include, because I read somewhere that the CD will only include the 'most important' songs from GH III. The codes are 1-time use. Kind of like a CD key. So you'll have to purchase the CD yourself. Jovack 18:45, 23 October 2007 (UTC)
iTunes GHIII Soundtrack
It lists Blondie's "One Way or Another." Is this a reliable source? carlylemiii Carlylemiii 21:20, 23 October 2007 (UTC)
- The iTunes soundtracks include more than the base songs in the GH series (1300 tracks total, I think there's only around 250 in the games released to date). Likely not usable. --MASEM 22:59, 23 October 2007 (UTC)
