Russelll's teapot

I get why people want to add it to the article - the persons connecting the seeming allusion need a reference explicitly noting it as such, I think. The boldly added reference I've just removed (and the Russell's Teapot reference) do not constitute such:

"Kurt says, channeling Bertrand Russell (Kurt-style) as he adds, “You can’t prove that there isn’t a magic teapot floating around on the dark side of the moon with a dwarf inside of it that reads romance novels and shoots lightning out of its boobs, but it seems pretty unlikely, doesn’t it?"

Nowhere is Russell's Teapot mentioned there, and it is requiring synthesis to connect it. - Jack Sebastian (talk) 06:55, 12 October 2010 (UTC)

Hi there! Thank you for taking this to the talk page. :) I think it's pretty clear that people understand it's a Cosmic Teapot reference, correct? Just a source is needed to back it up? Well the source there mentions Bertrand Russell by name... I am aware of WP:SYNTH, but does something that's referencing something have to be sourced precisely as this? I think the author is assuming the readers are aware of the teapot's existence, but perhaps not its origin? It does mention Russell and the teapot in the same sentence, and—correct me if I'm wrong—but I don't think there are any other Russellian links to teapot other than Russell's teapot? That's what I understood (and thought the author was conveying) from the article, anyway. I totally understand if you think this is still synthesis, but I think it's pretty clear from that article that it is what it is. If not, though, it can just be stated that a reference to Bertrand Russell is made. Yves (talk) 07:13, 12 October 2010 (UTC)

I will concede that it comes close, Yvesnimmo, but I think a claim like that needs to backed up with a pretty clear reference connecting the two. I think it needs to be an explicit connection between the two. I'm not tooth-and-nail on the matter, but I think the article would be better served in the long run (GA and FA) if we are able to tie the allusion to a more explicit source connecting the teapot to RB. - Jack Sebastian (talk) 08:45, 12 October 2010 (UTC)

Screencap for infobox?

Most of them probably shouldn't - a lot of them fail the NFCC on the grounds of contextual significance. At one point I was going to grab a cap featuring the design on the cheese sandwich, as I had a source that covered its creation in some detail, but unfortunately the link went dead. I kind of tend to be against the use of screenshots for episode articles unless having one would greatly improve understanding of the episode, e.g. the KISS and Gaga outfits in "Theatricality". Yves (talk) 20:37, 3 March 2011 (UTC)

I agree. Costumes that are extensively discussed in the article go a long way towards meeting NFCC#8, but a lot of the ones in use at the moment don't - looking at "Duets" and "Furt" just now, for example, they could easily be replaced with free-use images of the actors in the body of the article, without impairing anyone's understanding of the episodes.
