Grand Army of the Potomac or the Republic?[edit]

While the Central Park Conservancy website indicates that the plaza is named for the Army of the Potomac, Grand Army Plaza in Brooklyn is named for the Grand Army of the Republic, the national Civil War veterans organization. As the plaza was named in 1923 (see the cited Landmark Preservation Commission report cited in the article), the GAR name seems likely to me, but I haven't found any online sources that seem authoritative (maybe the conservancy has such a source, but it's not cited). Someone has already categorized this under the GAR category. Anyone with more definitive information, please contribute! GeoGreg (talk) 06:19, 12 March 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Midtown Manhattan category?[edit]

Should Category:Midtown Manhattan be added? The understand the plaza is two blocks, one of which is south of 59th, the boundary between Midtown Manhattan and Central Park and the Upper East Side. So, I think both Midtown Manhattan and Central Park are applicable. Right? ---Another Believer (Talk) 04:13, 27 February 2020 (UTC)[reply]

@Epicgenius: Pinging you as an active editor from NYC. Seem appropriate? ---Another Believer (Talk) 15:18, 27 February 2020 (UTC)[reply]
Another Believer, yes. The southern block is Midtown Manhattan and the northern block is arguably in Central Park, though others may consider it to be right on the edge of the Upper East Side as well. epicgenius (talk) 15:21, 27 February 2020 (UTC)[reply]
Epicgenius, Thanks. I'll add the Midtown Manhattan category now. ---Another Believer (Talk) 15:22, 27 February 2020 (UTC)[reply]

General: Article is new enough and long enough
Policy: Article is sourced, neutral, and free of copyright problems
Hook: Hook has been verified by provided inline citation
Image: Image is freely licensed, used in the article, and clear at 100px.
QPQ: Done.

Overall: All proposed hooks look OK; I particularly like the original and ALT1 though. ALTs 3 and 4 are less interesting to me than the others are. BennyOnTheLoose (talk) 22:03, 13 July 2024 (UTC)[reply]

@Epicgenius: just the QPQ pending. Thanks. Regards, BennyOnTheLoose (talk) 23:38, 12 July 2024 (UTC)[reply]

@BennyOnTheLoose: Thanks for the review. I have now done a QPQ. Epicgenius (talk) 21:10, 13 July 2024 (UTC)[reply]
