Marketing, not information

[edit]

This 'article' transparently reads as a marketing brochure. It does not have the tone, content or neutrality of an encyclopaedia article. It uses jargon (e.g. 'period 6 activity') that has little meaning outside the closed community of the school or, possibly, the UK education community. It suffers from detail and prolixity not suitable for an encyclopaedia article.

I don't know how to do this, but someone should mark the article for a complete rewrite, so far removed is it from the usual brief, informative style of school article. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 86.157.215.120 (talk) 05:51, 29 July 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Six year on- and I concur. WP does have a rule about deleting unsourced WP:RS material. I am tempted .ClemRutter (talk) 11:03, 9 December 2020 (UTC)[reply]
Couldn't resist. Added two authoritative sources and will build up a little basic material about what they teach, and hope we can get a little help more help. I have changed the assessmentClemRutter (talk) 16:27, 9 December 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Notable Gordonians

[edit]

I am not sure why the entry referring to Daniel Gonzales (spree killer) was removed from 'Notable Gordonians' on August 31st 2021– the entry was correctly referenced to a verifiable source. J.Vande (talk) 17:44, 21 November 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Amendments to page

[edit]

I am trying to amend the Gordon's page to reflect the change in Chair of Governors; increase in charges and that it was originally Gordon Boys' School. Also trying to add in Notable Gordonians with references. My edits have been removed! All are based on fact and non-contentious. As the page now stands it is incorrect without some of the changes. Perhaps I might be permitted to carry out these changes? Lottiegordons (talk) 08:03, 16 August 2024 (UTC)[reply]

You are being reverted, quite correctly, by two very experienced editors. You have been asked on several occasions to abide by the relevant instructions for users with a conflict of interest.
I would suggest that you start demonstrating a modicum of respect for Wikipedia guidelines, use the COI edit request process rather than editing the article directly, and stop treating this article as an extension of the school's social media.
The relevant policy can be found here: WP:COI. Axad12 (talk) 21:23, 16 August 2024 (UTC)[reply]

COI tag (August 2024)

One long-term editor with a declared CoI, other SPAs who may have CoIs. Discussion at WP:COIN. Current version of article may not be neutral. Tacyarg (talk) 22:14, 16 August 2024 (UTC)[reply]
