Multiple issues
[edit]This article has Multiple Issues. Many statements given in this article are incorrect. Examples include:
"The Republic of Ghana is the biggest economical powerhouse on the west of Africa, [27] the fourth biggest economy on the African continent and one of the world's fastest growing economies.[28] The Republic of Ghana is the biggest military powerhouse in West Africa" This is utter nonsense! Nigeria is 8 times larger than Ghana and has a much more powerful military. The African continent is home to Nigeria, as well as South Africa, Egypt, Libya, Algeria, and Morocco, which all have much larger economies than Ghana. Where is this nonsense coming from? — Preceding unsigned comment added by Jprschaefer (talk • contribs) 17:15, 28 February 2014 (UTC)
- Hi Jprschaefer, You should desist from using such languages Where is this nonsense coming from?. If you think something is not right and you have the references to prove, why not be bold and fix it. Also do well to sign what you write on talk pages. Regards. →Enock4seth (talk) 17:59, 28 February 2014 (UTC)
Hi Enock4seth! This is jprschaefer. I am sorry I offended you. Let me try to reword it. Ghana is being mistaken for Nigeria and Algeria here. The person who wrote this appears to be enthusiastic if not very well informed. I would respectfully suggest the author check out the Wikipedia pages for Algeria and Nigeria, especially those sites that list GDP and military expenditure, and compare those to the pages for Ghana. Warmest regards, jprschaefer. 16 May 14 https://wiki.riteme.site/w/index.php?title=Talk:Ghanaian_people&action=edit# — Preceding unsigned comment added by Jprschaefer (talk • contribs) 11:34, 16 May 2014 (UTC)
"The Ghanaian people are a nationality originating in the Ghanaian Gold Coast.": The 'Ghanaian Gold Coast' does not have any historical or geographical meaning, being a confusion of two names relating to different epochs.
"headquartered" is an inappropriate term in this context.
"Ghanaians are predominant and proficient speakers of the English language, they are also bilingual in kwa languages": Not all Ghanaians are proficient in English and many do not speak Kwa languages at all.
"The origin and ethnogenesis of the ancient ethnic Ghanaians is traced back to nomadic migration from Canaan and Nubia": The reference given [29] for this disputed theory makes no mention of the claimed origin.
"the indigenous peoples of Ghana bilingually speak languages belonging to the New Kwa, Afro-Asiatic and Niger–Congo language families": New Kwa is a subset of Kwa, which is itself a subset of Niger-Congo. So the statement contains redundancy. None of the Afro-Asiatic languages listed by Ethnologue is indigenous to Ghana (see http://www.ethnologue.com/subgroups/afro-asiatic).
"Nkrumah became the first Ghanaian Prime Minister, but remained a British monarch as Governor general.": This statement is very confused. Nkrumah was neither a Governor General nor a British monarch!

- An IP user says he has attempted to address these issues here. I lack the COMPETENCE to judge whether these are appropriate changes and will defer to others. --Jprg1966 (talk) 18:11, 28 October 2013 (UTC)
- I reinserted the deleted population information in the infobox. The IP user claimed it was "poorly sourced populations figures" but that was clearly untrue as the figures are cited with official statistic bureau figures or other reliably sources (Guardian article etc). Like Jprg1966 I must claim lack of knowledge to judge whether the rest of the IPs edit was acceptable (although the chances are slim considering the obvious misinformation in their edit summary with regards to the population issue). --Saddhiyama (talk) 15:54, 3 December 2013 (UTC)
From a brief overview of the edits to this article since October 2013 it seems clear that various editors with different nationalist agendas are at work. The IP that did the mass-deletion is most likely the same that edited this article recently, incorrecty claiming "vandalism" with regards to what is obviously a content dispute. As such I have reverted back to the last stable pre-October version which is the revision by Diannaaa 16 September 2013. --Saddhiyama (talk) 16:03, 3 December 2013 (UTC)
The problems mentioned by EJT above needs to be fixed, but they should not be an excuse to do mass-deletions of material and insertion of other unsourced claims for WP:POV-reasons. And that is obviously what has been occurring for a couple of months now. --Saddhiyama (talk) 16:09, 3 December 2013 (UTC)

Ghanaian people → Ghanaians – Per WP:CONSISTENCY, WP:CONCISE and WP:COMMONNAME. Nations that have a singular non-gendered unambiguous name are usually labelled as such. Only in cases where such a form doesn't exist, as with French people, Dutch people or Japanese people, is the form "foo people" used. See User:Privybst/UN member states nations.
